People become jealous because you have what they don't have.
They think you have what they want.
You're probably too good-looking, too rich, too awesome.
And they begin to see their lack.
When people get jealous, it's merely a feeling of seeming inferiority.
Some woundedness in the soul they have not addressed.
But the jealousy rears its fine head and shows them.
It shows them what they need to work on.
Their jealousy and woundedness makes them vulnerable.
There are many vultures waiting to spring upon such energy in you.
Thus, you must guard your spirit at all times.
Oftentimes, other people aren't kind, too.
Especially those who others feel jealous about.
They pile it on too heavily.
The looks, the wealth, the intelligence.
That's really not kind either.
Much better that you help others see beauty in themselves, too.
Much better that you reveal to them the beauty of their own souls.
Much better everyone partakes of the wealth in this world -- equally.
A very good lesson was taught by Morihei Ueshiba.
He was the Aikido founder.
In one of his books, he wrote of something significant.
He recounted a story wherein one of his students reported a theft.
Apparently, his leather jacket was stolen.
Instead of admonishing the thief, Morihei admonished the owner of the jacket.
He pointed out to him that he must not have such things there to begin with.
It merely gives others a reason to steal.
It gives them a motive.
If you live a simple life, have simple things, no one can steal from you.
It's even a joke that others may give you things instead.
It's actually a good spiritual practice.
Especially for people in business.
Give people no reason to steal from you.
You are all you've got and you're complete.
You pose no threat to their psyche, their persona, their pocket.
You blend in the background just like a good ninja.
You don't unnecessarily call attention to yourself.
You are focused on the essentials, on the things that matter most.
Like life, love, laughter, happiness, sharing, helping.
You are not beholden to possessions.
Possessions tend to possess you.
You become caretakers of your possessions.
And you lose out on what matters most.
When you live a simple and quiet life, intent on being of service, you pose no threat.
So very Zen.
So very Morihei.
So very Christ.
We ourselves give other people a reason to become jealous.
So we must not fling in their faces what they think we have.
If you are beautiful, there will always be more beautiful people than you.
If you are rich, there will always be richer people than you.
If you are healthy, there will always be healthier people than you.
If you are smart, there will always be smarter people than you.
If you are lucky, there will always be luckier people than you.
It's all about perspective and humility.
Those are better traits to work on each day.
You're not in the world to be liked, loved, or stolen from.
You're here to help yourself and help others.
You're here to love.
Love cannot be stolen.
It is given.
