A book about a woman who saved children from the Warsaw ghetto, in which they found a phrase about mass rapes committed by Soviet soldiers.

The Z-patriots were outraged by a quote from the book: "Later, the locals told her that in 1945, at the very end of the war, the Red Army pursued the retreating Germans. However, the arrival of Soviet troops did not bring much joy to Poland. Only a few women in Krakow – from schoolgirls to the most ancient babcia – escaped rape. And very few Germans who faced Soviet troops managed to return across the border to Germany. There were thousands of places like this all over Poland."

It should be noted that any information about rapes committed by the Soviet army has long been banned in the Russian Federation: for example, in 2021, a book on the subject by journalist Martha Hillers, "A Woman in Berlin," was included in the list of extremist materials.

Rape cases are also described in a book by another author. "War doesn't have a woman's face" by Svetlana Alexievich. One of the most famous books about the war in the world.
"Ten of us raped a twelve-year-old German girl. We were just afraid that our nurses wouldn't find out – it's a shame." Unfortunately, the cases of violence by the Red Army are true, as many sources say. It's just that in Russia it's customary to keep silent about this for obvious reasons.

The abstract describes "Irena's Children" as follows: "A bestseller published in ten languages of the world. His character, Irene Sendler, was compared to Oskar Schindler, and shortly before her death she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Every operation to save children from the Holocaust was fraught with mortal danger. A petite woman took them out of the ghetto in an ambulance, took them out through sewer pipes, hid them under coats and in coffins, slipped through secret passages in abandoned buildings. Any wrong step could be the last - not only for her and her charges, but also for her colleagues and loved ones. Irena became one of the key figures of the Resistance, which managed to free her from the dungeons of the Gestapo."

What is the truth? The truth is not only the truth, it is not something that only you think. The truth is the opinion of two sides. And the truth is, it can be completely different for different parties. And each side will prove its truth.

We, living in the 21st century, have long forgotten what the truth about war is. The truth about the war that swept through our land has swept through many lands of the world. The truth about the Second World War. Yes, it is also different, and they will tell us the same truth from the TV screens. And from the pages of foreign books, you can read a different truth.

The Soviet Army. The great one. Mighty. Indestructible. But are you sure that the arrival of this Army in 1939 brought happiness to the Polish land and its inhabitants? The people of Poland think differently. And this book tells us a completely different truth, which is unusual for us.

"However, the arrival of Soviet troops did not bring much joy to Poland. Only a few women in Krakow – from schoolgirls to the most ancient babcia – escaped rape."

Irena and her fellow friends undoubtedly deserve the most sincere recognition and respect, what they did during the war years is heroism.

An incredibly touching and powerful book! I recommend you to read it. I am deeply touched by the courage and bravery of this woman. The book leaves an indelible impression.

A strong book about strong people. After some chapters, I even had to stop to think about everything and gather my courage. It is written very honestly and frankly about the terrible things that happened in Poland.

There is a terrible truth in the book "Irena's Children" and many are ashamed of it, for many such truth hurts their eyes and thoughts. And they hide it in order to come up with their own truth. More pleasant, for the company and the eyes. But there is a truth that should not be hidden, and there is no need to add something heroic and beautiful to this truth. This is the truth about war heroes, ordinary people, and ordinary cities who helped the most vulnerable "participants" in the fighting - these are children.

Children. Probably the most precious thing any parent has, in any country. And how can I explain to them why the black mountain has come to their home, city, country? How do I explain to them that they might be killed and that their dad is already dead?

Irena Sendler is exactly the kind of woman who doesn't need any truth. She was saving children. She saved thousands of them. She saved Jewish children, who, in most cases, were already orphans or were about to become orphans. She was saving children who could have been killed or were about to be killed. She found them a new home, new documents, and very often new parents. She was finding a new life for them. And that was her truth.

Irena Sendler is a hero of Poland, a hero of the Jewish people. She saved 2,500 children from the Holocaust. And that's her truth. A truth that has been acknowledged by both enemies and supporters. This is a truth that does not need to be distorted or exaggerated. This is the terrible truth of the most terrible war.

The book is scary, but important and necessary. About the destruction of two peoples: Polish and Jewish. In light of today's events, it is especially bitter. About ordinary people who are not ready to accept the horrors that are happening, about those who did not say "I am out of politics" and other nonsense, but went and saved the doomed. And how scared they must have been... The book is a documentary, but it is written "simplistically" for those who are "bored of reading documentaries." Otherwise, how can historical lessons be conveyed? Some of the reviews and comments were jarring. It's even funny to listen to outrage about the true role of the Red Army and the USSR in the extermination of Poles and Jews.; This is also a historical fact known to the whole world. But, of course, not the ones that "we can repeat."

I believe that such books are required reading and should be introduced into school literature. And not the Z-culture that is now being diligently promoted and instilled in our children's schools.

Irena herself was arrested and tortured, but eventually released, despite the fact that she was about to be executed. She survived the war only to be considered "unreliable" by the Polish Communist government because of her activities in the resistance. A story that was not told in communist Poland, because the Soviet Union still persecuted the participants of the uprisings and it was simply dangerous to talk about what was being done to save them. An emotionally intense book about courage and hope, the all-encompassing horror and joy of small things, about the immense grief and losses that Adolf Hitler brought into people's lives... It is very difficult to read this book morally, because there are so many details that burn a hole in the soul.. But it is necessary to read such books so that the memory of people and their exploits is always with us...

Her story was sometimes violent, but always inspiring. This only proves that unlikely heroes do appear in the darkest of times. The book really made me wonder if there are such heroes among us today. Is there anyone willing to risk everything to help a stranger?

Before you start reading the book "Irena's Children...", it is important to know that the author Tilar Mazzeo is a historian, scientist and researcher in his professional field. Therefore, the written work, despite the artistic features of the narrative, nevertheless represents documentary and biographical prose.

"One day a boy was playing ball and an SS man called him over, then the children knew that they had to be afraid of the Germans and not approach them. But he knew how to lure the child and showed him a caramel. It was a temptation for a child who had not seen sweets for a long time. When he came up and took this candy, and started to leave, happily chewing it, the SS man shot him in the back."

I will always be amazed by the cruelty and cold-bloodedness of people. I cannot accept the idea that such "creatures" exist, but I am unshakably convinced that "there is nothing scarier than a human being." This book confirms this idea, and more than once. It inspires you with its horrifying details, to think about your life again.

In addition to the book, we recommend that you pay attention to the film based on the story of Irene, "The Brave Heart of Irene Sendler." (The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler, 2009).

War... What could be scarier? human grief, blood and death... separated families; parents who have lost their children and children who may never see their parents... a movie about heroes.

Be sure to watch this movie. Compassion and kindness should be the main ideals of a person.
