So, after a recent trip to Japan I was told by my employer that I had to self-isolate for 2 weeks. I had mixed feelings about this as I was told I couldn't even leave the little place where I lived, but it felt strangely exciting at the same time! Luckily I have some good neighbours who offered to bring me some supplies to keep me going. It eventually became 4 weeks as I developed a rather annoying little cough, but I quickly realised this was an opportunity to learn more about the fun things in life like CRYPTO and to find new ways for me to try and earn a little more of my favourite cryptocurrencies!
I originally became involved with crypto in 2014 and so have a basic knowledge. I bought a small amount of bitcoin (we're talking less than 1 BTC) and made some small investments in promising and admittedly not-so-promising ICOs during that time. But for the moment I wasn't interested in new ICOs, I just wanted to try new sites where I might be able to earn some extra crypto. This is what I've done so far. Be Brave
First off, I downloaded the Brave browser. I'd heard of it in passing, but decided to research it further, and the more I read and learnt about it, the more I was convinced that this was the browser for me! I mean it's a no brainer right? Earn crypto for viewing non-intrusive ads whilst protecting your privacy at the same time and blocking all those annoying ads you normally see whilst surfing! It's a great browser, always improving, and I'm now receiving some crypto each month effectively for using this browser to surf the net, that makes me very happy and feeling like who cares about having to stay at home for four weeks?!
Now then, those ads also opened up new crypto opportunities to me...
Earning interest on my crypto
This ad kept popping up for BlockFi which appeared to offer interest on certain cryptocurrencies I held. It got my attention! I had some existing ETH sitting in a MEW wallet not really doing much. I did a bit of research and discovered that there were a few sites that offered to pay you in interest payments if you deposited your crypto with them. Hmmmm. Risky I thought! I'll be honest I'm still not entirely convinced I'll get my money back as I've seen so many scams over the years, but how some of these sites make money through lending and create that interest kinda makes sense. I decided to try out BlockFi, partly because Brave kept bugging me with their ads and also because there was a small sign up bonus if you deposited $100 worth and left it there for a month. Nothing to lose. They paid out the interest and the bonus and it is still there. Now all of that is earning interest for another month. Maybe I should try and withdraw it, especially with the chaos in the financial markets. But the value of it has diminished so much in fiat terms, it seems better to leave it there for now...
Earning crypto blogging and reading
So another ad kept bugging me. Blog and earn. Blog and earn. Blah blah blah. I thought, yeah right, seen that kind of stuff before and it ends up being a lot of work for little reward. But the persistence paid off and I looked into it further and discovered this fabulous site! Publish0x is without doubt my favourite blogging site of the moment, to learn more about crypto, to read about interesting stuff besides crypto, and especially as you can also receive free crypto for reading other people's posts, as well as get tips for your own. There is also a tonne of info here that will be useful in my search for new crypto opportunities and ideas for life in general! Keep up the good work guys!
Three faucets
1) Free Bitcoin is the first faucet I ever joined, its been running since 2014 I believe. It's great for a quick hourly click to claim from their FREE BTC faucet and at the moment the values are higher because of the cheaper BTC price. They also have a lottery (I've never won) and you can earn reward points which can be exchanged to increase your hourly BTC claim for a 24 hour period, or for more lottery tickets, etc... You can earn further from your referrals and if you keep more than 30k satoshis with them you will start to earn interest on that sum each day. This site pays out and as I've been spending a lot of time at home I've been making a lot more hourly claims!
2) So, the above site also used to run a free dogecoin site but they closed it down. Dogecoin has always been a funny one for me, yet it is easy to exchange for other crypto on various exchanges. So I've taken time to find a new faucet and have found one called My Crypto Give which allows you to claim hourly and also runs a daily, weekly and monthly Doge giveaway. I've already received Doge twice from this site and it's another of my hourly go to's whilst I am at home twiddling my bits.
3) So I think I read about Cointiply on here and it's another of my new favourites. You earn the site's own coin currency which is then converted into a USD value and then you can claim the Bitcoin equivalent once you reach the threshold. Loads of ways of earning these coins - an hourly faucet claim, viewing ads, taking surveys, participating in their chat room, and entering special announced codes on twitter. Really like this site, it's not crowded with ads and has a nice feel. Haven't made a claim yet, but I feel confident this will pay out.
Exchange your crypto for gift cards (UK)
It might not be the best time to spend that crypto but once the value rises again (and it will) Giftoff is a great little site where you can spend your crypto in exchange for gift cards (including Amazon UK at the moment). It's fab and so easy to use. I did have to download the Bitpay app, but once set up this has become my current favourite go to site to exchange crypto for gift cards...convenient to buy for me or to send as gifts for birthdays too!
That'll do for now. I'm still exploring and trying out new crypto opportunities. Have recently signed up to the Crypto.com app with the possibility of a free US$50 sign up bonus (if I buy/deposit and stake MCO) and have downloaded the Cryptotab browser on my mobile phone to see if I can earn a bit of Bitcoin through that, although it seems quite slow and you have to have to use it all the time (and I'd prefer to be using Brave!). I am always looking for new faucets, so let me know of any good ones - but please not those with an annoying quantity of ads!
