The Big Change on WAX: My Experience With the New Account Migration

The WAX ecosystem has been going through a big transformation lately, and like many users, I suddenly found myself forced to migrate my old WAX account to the new system. I’m not a developer, I’m not a blockchain expert, and I don’t pretend to be. I’m just someone who has been using WAX for years for games, NFTs, staking, and small experiments. So this change hit me in a very real and very confusing way.

When the announcement came out, it sounded simple: “Migrate your account.” But the reality, at least for me, was far from simple. The process felt long, technical, and full of steps that weren’t always clear. Some tools didn’t load, some links didn’t work, and sometimes I wasn’t even sure if I was doing the right thing. It’s the kind of situation where you stop and think: Why does crypto always have to be this complicated?

One of the biggest problems was understanding what exactly was changing. The old WAX accounts we used for years were being replaced by a new system, and without the migration, many apps simply stopped working. Wallets didn’t connect, games didn’t load, and some NFTs didn’t even show up. It felt like the whole ecosystem was shaking.

This change didn’t only affect WAX itself. It also created problems in other projects that depend on WAX, like Wombat. I personally use Wombat a lot, and suddenly some features were broken. Logging in became harder, some assets didn’t sync, and the app kept giving errors. At first, I thought it was just a bug, but then I realised it was all connected to the WAX migration. One small change in the chain created a big wave across different platforms.

And honestly, this made me think about how fragile some crypto ecosystems still are. One update, one migration, one technical decision — and suddenly thousands of users are confused, stuck, or unable to access their assets. It’s a reminder that blockchain is powerful, but still far from “easy” for normal people.

I’m still finishing my own migration, and I’m still learning how everything works now. I’ll write another post soon explaining the Wombat situation in more detail, because that deserves its own space. There’s a lot to talk about: the login issues, the asset syncing problems, and how the app is adapting to the new WAX structure.

For now, I just wanted to share my honest experience. No drama, no technical explanations, just the reality of a regular user trying to keep up with the changes. Crypto moves fast, and sometimes it feels like we’re all running behind it, trying not to fall.
