This is why COVID is spiking

By cMasta | pmcmasta | 15 Nov 2020

Remember when the media was running a 'fear campaign' to keep people indoors and mitigate the spread of COVID?

WELL CLEARLY IT WORKED. LOOK AT WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW YOU IMBECILES.

Sorry to generalize. I know most of you are following the rules and a lot has changed since then.

I was at the Abbott factory making COVID tests with a nice young lady today; she couldn't have been too far out of high school, and since we have tomorrow and Monday off, I asked her what she planned to do to start off her weekend.

She told me that she was going to "hit the streets" and attend an Air BnB party.

Not wanting to make her angry, I wished her luck and told her not to get COVID, to which she replied that it would be a fairly small gathering.

Even so, I WISH WE HAD AIR BNB PARTIES WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL.

Ahaha... but seriously (that was kind of serious), this is why COVID is not in check yet. Be smart; weigh the risks. I honestly can't blame the girl for wanting to go to an Air BnB party, but it's just kind of unsettling how brash some people are.

Thanos 2020, I guess.

Me included, though, I suppose, since I am working at a large factory with more than 100 people in a room at a time and don't really need to be there to pay rent or buy food...

On a less-related note, it's kind of interesting how supportive my well-off parents are of me driving an hour to the relatively densely packed factory and an hour back, 7 out of 14 days, 12 hours a day, to make $18 an hour (minus tax)...

Good thing I'm not worried about my health.

Also interesting is how few COVID cases I've actually heard about in the factory in my nearly two months working there. We take the test every week, and so far there have only been isolated cases as far as I know.

We're all wearing masks, goggles, gloves, lab coats, and hairnets while working, of course, which is a surprisingly loud testament to the power of PPE. There are also plexiglass barriers between stations on the line and seats in the cafeteria.

So wear your PPE! And social distance! And don't grumble if you have the luxury of being stuck at home! Join some Telegram airdrops instead or something...
