6 Signs You’re Probably Going To Struggle Until You Die

By Lucapelle | Pills of Sanity | 10 Oct 2022

(1)You prioritise others over your freedom.
So many people sacrifice their own joy to please others; often a partner or family member. I'm aware there are people in our lives who need support. But here’s where you invite unnecessary struggle: you fail to put yourself first which makes you even more unable to help others in the long run.
Many de-prioritise themselves, not because of circumstance, but out of choice. You can help and support others without eroding your freedoms and joys!
You must make non negotiable time for your freedom. The most selfless thing you can do is to put yourself first. kinda counter intuitive I know.

(2) You expect the world to make you happy.
If you believe you’re entitled to happiness, you’re going to suffer; even though It may seem a good thing to see yourself as somebody who deserves all sorts of positive things in order to have a better attitude towards day to day life and feel stronger as a person.
Truth is that mindset is of someone who has already lost because this philosophy will inevitably lead you on the path of victimhood, and your joys and achievements depend on what happens outside of your control. You must take responsibility for it all. Even if It might feel like you've got the weight of the world on your shoulders, only this will allow you to grab the steering wheel of your life, the only other option is being a passenger.

(3) You lack the courage to choose one thing.
Sure, enjoy novelty and try lots of stuff. But this can’t replace the need to go all in on one thing.
Write that book to completion. Build that happy family. Learn Japanese until fluent. Stop quitting businesses that needed a few more weeks of your attention. Follow through and stop changing tracks at the first sign of discomfort. When you stretch yourself between many things, you can’t enjoy the fruits of your hard work. If you don't have the focus, the drive or the guts to risk It all because of your fear of struggling or failing then It guaranteed that's the outcome you'll obtain

(4) You’re immovable in your judgements.
Finding compassion for your friends and your loved ones is not hard. Finding the strength in you to empathise with someone you dislike - now that’s true grit and this will lead to a long life for you.
Finding this capacity in you to be open to listen and understand another, no matter how angry they make you, even if they’re clearly unethical, will serve you the most. To quote Danny Vinyard: "hate is a baggage. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time. It's just not worth it."
Also It makes you weaker, clouded and less resourceful. If you still don't believe me here's another quote from Confucius: ‘If you hate a person, you are defeated by them."

(5) You can’t forgive.
Those who can’t forgive - both their younger selves, or others who did them wrong - suffer until death. If you can’t find a way to understand why you did what you did, and to love who you were regardless, you’ll live as a traitor in some else’s body. If you can’t find a way to comprehend what others did, and see that they did what they believed was rational given their limited thinking at the time, you welcome in tragedy. You lose, because with every day that passes, you slowly poison your mind, body and soul. This emanates from the stress and negative energy required to sustain your resistance to what is.

(6) You are terrified of feeling bored.
Boredom - that feeling of discomfort in the present moment, It often prompts us to do things that don’t serve us: Escaping to porn. Over-eating. Smoking(or vaping now-days) getting complacent. We seem to live vicariously through screens because our lives are so "boring"
Highly intelligent people get bored easily and spend more time thinking, that comes across as 'laziness' but it is critical for brain health to let yourself be bored from time to time.
Being bored can help improve social connections. When we are not busy with other thoughts and activities, we focus inward as well as looking to reconnect with friends and family.
Being bored can help foster creativity. The eureka moment when solving a complex problem when one stops thinking about it is called insight.
Additionally, being bored can improve overall brain health.  During exciting times, the brain releases a chemical called dopamine which is associated with feeling good.  When the brain has fallen into a predictable, monotonous pattern, many people feel bored, even depressed. This might be because we have lower levels of dopamine.  We need to embrace boredom in order to retrain the brain to actually enjoy these less exciting, and perhaps boring, times. As they bring humour, mindfulness, energy; Creativity; Enthusiasm for living and a trust in your inconceivable power.
