Hello everyone! 2021 has started in a quite peculiar way for certain microworlds such as cryptocurrencies and other businesses. But, what is happening with social networks? No one can deny that through the years, Mark Zuckerberg's business ideas have been terrifyingly successful. But in 2021 we find ourselves facing a different panorama where all the users of the world who are connected 24/7 to the infinite network, are more aware about our rights in privacy policies.
The first years of Facebook have been, within their simplicity, the most practical and useful for users. In the evolutionary line of the giant Facebook, everything was going well until a few years ago, when all advertising services began to be a torment for people. But since the announcement of the launch of Livra, the entire operation of the social network collapsed.
The first reason was that the expectations they had in mind were not met. So Facebook redoubled its bet with advertising services and this caused users to begin to have mistrust when using the platform. It is not just a matter of algorithms, but the user is trapped for hours in a cube where the same social network overloads him with products and services that did not even cross his mind. To the experienced user, this should not generate any impact, but to the common user, this is a totally harmful manipulation, and more so if he experiences it daily.
The second reason was the purchase of other giants such as Instagram and WhatsApp. Once again, the user is forced to handle himself within the line of suggestions that Facebook spills and lacks freedom of decision regarding searches, interests, options.
When we all thought that there would be no more surprises, the integration of Facebook Pay began, in which the platform could now access all the financial data of the users who linked this service for some reason to use it.
Nor were those expectations met, and then the new change would occur.
In the last months of 2020, Facebook analyzed the integration of a payment system through WhatsApp, but due to problems with its own privacy policies, this measure remained on standby. Facebook would have to find a way to make this work and this was the moment when the red light went on for all users.
Rumors began to trickle through Twitter by Instagram users who warned to stop using the service. Why? Because it was rumored that soon Instagram would have free access to the camera and the microphone of each user "for the purpose of improving the advertising service" and to "understand the reactions of people when looking at posts from other users or advertising within the application". This forced the Instagram service to go out and give an answer, in which they denied that this could happen, and that in the case of taking that measure, the user would always be consulted in advance.
But this did not end there. After the uproar caused on Twitter, a few days later all WhatsApp users would find themselves with a surprise: privacy policies were going to be changed. With the notice that on March 8 the privacy policies were going to change, the user had to state that he agreed with them and if he did not agree, he could no longer use the messaging service.
What will WhatsApp have access to with these changes?
Mainly to your contact list within the phone. The phone number will be aligned with their names, internet account links, information from both the user and their contacts about how they interact within the applications, how they interact with companies, and how they interact with advertising services. They will measure the sensitive time with the touch screens and will call agorithms with this information in order to be able to have certainty about the interest or disinterest of the user with the advertisements that are displayed. They will have access to the IP of each user and above all things, again the user will be stuck inside the cube.
This extraordinary measure, which is perceived as the most invasive thing that Facebook has ever managed, is nothing more than the prelude to more invasive policies that are coming on the horizon and are only waiting for users to determine their position in this regard. So doing a very superficial analysis, we can understand why most users are migrating to services like WeChat, Telegram and Line. Many also asked for the return of Windows Live Messenger ironically about it.
It will be time to abandon these services and start exploring other horizons. It is enough to analyze the following: in most of the news portals, or certified web services or others, 97% of the account registrations can be done by logging in with the Facebook login. Be very careful people, we from PickCoin recommend joining the service migration and begin to be more aware of the value of our data and that we should NEVER give it away to companies that speculate and determine human behavior in masses, with the monopoly of content. Social networks have a cognitive, psychological, social, political, musical impact and on every aspect of human life. Take care of your data.
We hope you have a beautiful weekend. Best wishes, PickCoin team.
