The rashphery pi 4 is a cool little devise that can be used for many different projects and applications. I would have liked to gotten the newest greatest version of it ( * gotten the 2 gig of ram model vs 4 gig ) however it was a birthday gift. I personal, haven't found time to use the devise. ( * just built a beffy PC around the same time and havent had a reason to play with the pi yet.) The devise itself is very portable and light weight (specs down below). If i had choice i would take this devise + a laptop with me while traveling ( i would take both ). The only down side with the raspberry pi the is its OS and its inability to run windows. ( i prefer windows to linux, windows just works.) With linux you have to relearn how use the UI and learn about complications of Linux. ) For the average user just buy a chome book or a laptop you would happier in the long run; however If you are a power user or tinker this devise is a must have.
The Many uses of rashbphery pi- Since the pi is very light and super portable this devise can literally be used anywhere. The only limitations on the device is the learning curve associated with the rashberry OS, and the linux shell. If you can over come the OS and complexity of it all you are golden. There are tons of use cases for using this tiny devise. Many include but are not limited to retro gaming devise, sprinkler system, robot controller, firewall, pen tester, and many others. (* too many to list here )
Overall thoughts - i got this devise as a birthday gift and havent found time to use the thing. (*Life as an adult ). This fun little gadget has many use cases and can be used for fun side projects; However i do not believe this devise can be used as an alternative to a cheap desktop. Due to the complexity of a Linux base OS and lack of first party applications this devise is NOT user friendly. I would NOT recommend this devise to a casual PC user. If you are a tinker or a Linux power user then this gadget is a must have to add yo your holiday wish list
