Manchester United travelled to Elland road to be hosted by another rival; Leeds United. Leeds United have taken points off many big teams and they did it again on the day to extend United's trailing points rather than close it up.
United still sits second but a win would have made them dream again because when Aguero won the league for City back in the day, they were trailing United by the same number of points that they are leading United now with. They would hope to nick it at the last minute too to get one over City but that looked likely to have been over now and City have the opportunity to win the title if they win against Crystal Palace next and if United lose to Liverpool.
The last time these two met in December, United ran riot and hits Leeds for 6-2. Leeds came out fighting this time around and would settle for a point to dent any hope of title aspiration on the day Paul Pogba made his 200th appearances for Manchester United. This is the first time they would be meeting at Elland Road for a Premier League match for many years. Leeds have been unbeaten in 5 games before kick-off and United have been known never to lose an away match for a stretch too.
A free-kick was delivered into the box early on by Bruno Fernandes but Maguire was unable to get any meaningful contact on the ball to direct it home from inside the box.
Leeds got a chance of their when a lovely ball was sent into the box to find Bamford. He was faster than the ball and the ball fell behind him and also struck the arm of Luke Shaw even though he kept his arm close to his body. VAR ran a check and felt it was unworthy of a penalty and the threat was nullified.
The ball was stolen from a Fernandes clearance by Leeds and they charged at United's goal. Dallas had a lovely shot at the goal but Henderson saved it without much effort.
Both teams kept producing chances but nothing seemed to come out of them all. Another notable one was for United when Rashford's free-kick was brilliantly saved by the goalkeeper. The ball was heading towards the top corner but the goalkeeper kept it out.
The half time whistle went and it was still 0-0 going into the break. The second half started and Dallas found Costa at the edge of the box, his effort across the face of the goal was not met by any Leeds United player in sight.
Leeds United had another chance when Phillip's long ball found Helder Costa. He ran at the goal and his strike was deflected for the top of the net by Wan Bissaka. It was a brilliant strike. He did everything right but for the timely intervention of Wan Bissaka who denied him.
Another chance missed by United and Leeds would be happy with a point even though they knew they could have won it. Maguire made history for himself after drawing level with Gary Pallister in making 71 league start without a break. He has started the last 71 league games.
