The person you helped today
Might turn a blind eye to you tomorrow
Deception is real, just as most people's character
So beating yourself up for someone's deception
Would always keep you defeated no matter what
Did they betray you? That's perfectly fine
But do you have to betray yourself as well?
Deprive yourself of life due to someone's selfishness?
This is your life and no one would teach you how to live it
You are responsible for your outcomes
The good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly
It's time to look within and rise above your hurts
You can't even afford to be bitter, not one bit
Because those who hurt you today
Might be the same people that would lift you tomorrow
Keep being bitter and you lose what might lie ahead

They pull you down today but can lift you tomorrow
Help, give and be you without expecting much in return
It helps to keep your sanity in check
Without waiting for the person who will write the cheque
I have learned to rise above everything
Accept the outcomes I know I can't change
While looking forward to better days
Whether from those who have hurt me or not
