I knew life wasn't easier the moment I grew up
With all the lies I've been fed while growing up, I threw up
I gathered my tattered clothes and I tried to sew up
I knew I've been lied to for so many years, so I blew up
With hunger and strong desire inside me, I knew I can afford to screw up
I didn't have a choice then, but I have a choice now, so I chew up
All the anger inside of me to blame others for my outcomes, I spew up
Now I know life isn't going to get any easier, I grew up
I grew up against the odds and the things stacked against me
I fought the odds and stopped making excuses for how I turned out
I might not have had a good start but who says I can't have a happy ending?
Everything I need is on the other side of fear, so I braced up
I tried daily to fight the ghosts of the past, I constantly stayed up
I kept my eyes on the ball even when I was led to the wolves
Like a lemon to lemonade, I came back leading the pack of wolves
What was meant to break me, suddenly, with sheer determination
Turned around to be the only source of strength I needed to soldier on
I know better now because each victory holds the key to more difficult things to come
Life wouldn't get any easier so I decided to toughen up
Like water off a duck's back, I ignored criticisms and I moved up
I would be lying to say it was easy but if it was, anyone could have done it, so, swoop up.
