We are humans and it is natural for us to make mistakes but we need to own up to those mistakes if we are to grow. A lot of people spend more time trying to cover up their misdeeds rather than owning up to those mistakes.

In life, either deliberate or not deliberate, we will hurt each other but the moment that person points out what you have done wrong, stop looking for ways to make yourself feel good, apologize first and you might explain why you did what you did. Most people would want to be heard but they don’t want to hear others. Someone pointed out to you how you did what you were not supposed to do but you were only focused on proving your innocence? Life doesn’t come with manuals but we need to grow up. Growing up is indeed optional but it is a wise choice. The same issue presented itself with Galenkp when he tried to help someone, he corrected the person but the person lashed out instead and resulting in name calling.

So many people like claiming seniority with their age or level. Age doesn’t mean when you hurt someone, you can’t be humble enough to apologize. I have seen people who try to gain an advantage over others and they are careful about how people see them. If you are the type that is careful about how people see you, then you need to learn to mind your business and not overstep.

Own up to your mistake whether you mean it the way they portrayed it or not. Saying you are sorry takes a lot of humility. You might hurt a younger person and you still need to apologize to that child regardless of the age difference. Learn to be humble and own up to your mistakes. A lot of people try to find excuses for their shortcomings and make the other person feel guilty so they can feel good about themselves. You don’t need to. Learn to let go, move on and own up to your mistakes. Try and stop turning the table and accept the truth that you didn't act the way you should and apologize for it.

Learn to tell yourself the truth once in a while too and not about who you have portrayed yourself to be. Your attitude is different from your personality; your attitude is how you are and your personality is what you want people to see about you. Be real with yourself and seek help when and where you need it. There is no shame in that. Age is not a sign of maturity and someone younger than you can be of huge help to shape your character.

A lot of people beat themselves up when they make mistakes or when they hurt others. Yes, we deal with hurts and pains differently but you should understand that the person who calls your attention to what you have done wrong against him or her must be hurting too.

Often we focus too much on ourselves and we forget that those we have hurt must be hurting too. We shift our gaze and then we try to make them feel guilty too so we can twist the narrative and feel good about ourselves. There is no way anyone can grow like this. Stop trying to look good to everyone.

Life did not come with a manual or instruction, so, normally, we won't always be at our best. It's not an excuse to keep faltering though but we should apologize and stop beating ourselves up too much. Life is never about who wins, know this and you will become better. It's about getting better every day. The simple things make up the most important aspect of our lives.
