We are always quick to judge others yet we take the focus away from ourselves. We want everyone to know or think we have things all figured out so they can bow at our feet. We want that status, we want that life, that popularity but suddenly we have a problem with it when we see someone with the same goals and dreams. Is it a crime for another person to dream and have something similar to what we desire? How does their dream affect your course of action?
Humans are naturally selfish and we have to be honest with ourselves that we all have that inherent trait and it's just that it is more magnified in others than us. Someone once joked: "You want to have the world? If you have everything, where would you put them?". We want to have everything to ourselves but that's not a bad thing. There is no crime against dreaming big but my issue with ambitious people sometimes is that they think they are the only ones that deserve those good things and it's not justified when it comes to you.
Have you ever seen a situation where someone has been working so hard on something but you were able to get that same thing without exerting as much effort as the other person? It wasn't as if you didn't work your butt off for it too but with a little bit less, you got what others toiled all night for. Most people have resented so many people for a little less than this. They don't understand that sometimes it's not about working so hard but about asking the right questions.
In my country, we used to say "Those who ask for direction to where they are going won't get lost." As long as you keep asking the right questions you are bound to attain that success. Most people would rather be bitter at what you have which they desired too rather than ask questions. To hate is much easier to them than asking questions. A wise man once said: "You cannot attract what you attack." This is true because you would be blinded by your hate.
It's okay to want the same thing and it's also okay not to desire the same thing. It doesn't make the other person less ambitious or your enemy, it only means you can coexist with your similarities or disparities. With the similarities, it can make your journey easier and faster because you can see how it can be done to cut off the mistakes you are bound to make later. With the disparities, you can learn to accept the things you can't change and the ones you can't understand.
Learn to accept others' individual differences and only then can they accept yours. Learn to be genuinely happy for others and only then can good things be attracted to you. Learn to rid yourself of the hate in your heart because it's bound to consume you. No one has it all figured out and no one can make it out in this world alone. Ask questions, ask for help and be willing to give your best.
Most people think asking questions make their ignorance obvious but it only strengthens your knowledge because what you know stays with you. Most people also think asking for help makes them weak but it doesn't. No one can know where to help you if you didn't ask. We don't live in the eras of mind readers where someone neutral would know what you desire and then hand it over to you.
