Happy Independence day Nigeria

more like in-despondency day.

Sixty years after the great heroes

fought for the freedom of the black queen.

The African giant, the eagle who should never walk on bare ground.

They probably thought that

twenty years after, you would be a queen

whose glory would be seen all over the globe.

Happy independence day, Nigeria.

The labour of our heroes past

seems to have crumbled drastically

Hardly can we see the broken bricks of its foundation.

I wonder how they feel now,

those who lost their lives fighting for you -

those whose family were sacrificed for your freedom.

But who am I to blame you?

The seeds from your land are those hurting you

The ones you live for are living off you without replacing.

Siphoning your every good and sweetness

for their families

Even though you are almost dry, they won't give up...

Happy independence day, Nigeria

because despite our freedom

we still depend on foreigners 

whom we fought to be free...
