It's the final game of the season and what a crazy it has been. Who would have imagined Manchester City would claim the title despite struggling for form earlier in the season and also see Tottenham and Arsenal miss out of European competition.
It has been a battle for the top 4 as though it was a battle for the Premier League. It has been intense and unpredictable. Just when you think you have it sorted out, there is always a twist to happen.
Who would have imagined Leicester City being down to 5th and scrambling to qualify after holding the 3rs spot for so long. A series of terrible results led them to this point and now they have it all to do against Tottenham and hoping Liverpool would either draw or lose so as to qualify for the Champions League.
Tottenham had been badly hit too. With the final loss to Manchester City to Mourinho leaving and now Harry Kane dropping his bombshell about leaving at the end of the season, you can imagine how they would at least love to end the season on a high against Leicester City for the final game of the season. The result of the match between both would go a long way to determine the fate of Leicester City hoping Liverpool won't win. It's a tricky one for Leicester City because Tottenham wants to move up to take the place of West Ham in 6th.
Manchester United would take on Wolves. Wolves have had a mixed season and with United already securing their 2nd spot in the league, United might have to mix youth with experience for the final game of the season in preparation for the Europa League final with Villarreal.
West Ham impressed everyone this season and having missed out on the Champions League they can still see their season as a success with an Europa League spot when they take on Southampton.
Other matches to look out for includes:
Arsenal v giant slaying Brighton. Even though Arsenal are not gunning for anything spectacular again for the season except for the European Conference Cup, they would do well to end the season on the high and regroup for next season.
Chelsea with Aston Villa would also be an interesting match because Chelsea would desperately want a win against Villa to avoid being overtaken by either Liverpool or Leicester City. Villa is not an easy match for Chelsea but with their recent track records under Tuchel, a win would guarantee their spot for next season UEFA Champions League.
The Champions take on Everton. Everton had a mixed season too but you can still take it as a progress from them. They would hope to upset City with a win and give their fans something to cheer about.
Liverpool need a win against Crystal Palace to cement their top 4 dream after falling off the wagon with series of injuries and bad results. They finally regrouped for the final push and leapfrogged Leicester City. Chelsea and Liverpool need to win to keep Leicester City out and any loss from both and a win from Leicester would see one of them miss out on the spot.
It has been a season full of drama and it will go down to the last day.
