Sometimes, it is a tough choice to decide between doing the right thing and minding your own business. Some people value loyalty and of course, some people care about not breaking another person's heart. Most of the time, we are clouded by our own emotions and we think for the other person rather than speak the truth but what if your truth breaks another person's heart, you think? Better to break it now than later, another would say.
How do you know when to mind your business and speak the truth? I think you have to weigh the cost and of course, think about the long term effect as well as decide how close that person is to you. When you know how close you are to them and deciding whether you want to lose them or not, it might help you to know what to do - speak your truth or mind your business.
Most of the time, we are torn between two things, giving them hurt and pain now or defer it.
Imagine a best friend to another lady found out two weeks to her best friend's wedding that the groom she is to get married to already have another pregnant girlfriend somewhere. She isn't sure whether to tell her or just wait it out. She told the man to do the right thing and come clean but then, the guy wouldn't, due to the fact that this is his one-way ticket to the U.S via this marriage.
The friend nudged him and pressurize him to tell her best friend the truth until the wedding day when he stood her at the altar. The best friend found out and didn't take it cool with her friend for knowing for two weeks and not say anything about it.
Looking at it in the hindsight, she tried to protect her friend from heartache seeing she is 40 years already but the shame and disgrace afterwards could have been avoided if only she mentions it to her friend.
It is easy to judge from the outside if you are not in it. Decisions get harder when you are the one to make it.
