Bayern Munich hosted Lazio after overpowering them with 4 goals to 1 in the first leg of the round of 16, in the UEFA Champions League. This time around they beat the same opponent by 2 goals to 1 to qualify for the Quarter Finals of the Champions League for the 19th time and they are now unbeaten as well in their last 19 UEFA Champions League game, to equal the longest run without a defeat.

It would be a huge surprise if Bayern didn't see this game through and they know which was why they showed their intent as early as the 3rd minute when a long cross found Lewandowski at the far post. He did well to nod it down only to have his effort cleared by the defender.

Sane cuts inside in the 12th minute opened up space and tried a curling effort into the far corner of the post but he missed. What a goal that would have been but in the 31st minute, Acerbi pulled down Goretzka in the box. The referee had no choice but to point to the penalty spot. Lewandowski stepped up and brilliantly scored his 39th goal in all competitions by sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to put his side ahead by 1 goal but 5-1 on aggregate already.

Lewandowski should have played in Sane in the 46th minute after the restart but he opted to try the ball which wasn't much of encouragement anyway. In the 52nd minute too, Gnabry was hoping to get in on the end of a ball in from Muller only for the defender to nullify the threat and clear it.

In the 66th minute, Lewandowski was at it again and could have scored with a brilliant shot that hit the post and fell back into the gracious arms of Pepe Reina. Correa missed a golden chance to draw his side level in the 72nd minute when he was played in but Nubel was on hand to make his first real save of the game when he denied him.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had only been on for 2 minutes when he was brilliantly played through in the 73rd minute. He smartly lifted the ball over the onrushing Pepe Reina and the ball escaped in between his arms and found the back of the net to make it 2-0 and 6-1 on aggregate.

Pavard gave away a freekick in the 81st minute when he brought down Correa. The freekick was taken and delivered into the box and Parolo got in on the end of the ball and gave Lazio consolation. Correa could have drawn his side level for this leg when he was found again in the box in the 84th minute but he couldn't get the touch that was required to stir the ball home.

The game ended 2-1 in favour of Bayern Munich and that is 6-2 on aggregate.
