On June 17, video game publisher Ubisoft released a new cryptocurrency game based on their popular Rabbids franchise. Called Rabbids Token, the game will be launched on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain. The proceeds collected from the game will entirely go towards the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
The game, similar to the collectible game CryptoKitties built by Dapper Labs, will let users collect and trade different ‘Rabbids’ - creatures that possess different traits. The game does differ from CryptoKitties slightly, as players who “nab” Rabbids from other players will receive a Rabbid with a new identity - but with some link to the original Rabbid through “Proof of Plausible Ownership.”

Special edition Rabbits will be released during a full moon, the next one occurring on July 5. Rabbids can currently be purchased for 0.08 and 0.15 ETH. The official website for Rabbids Token reads,
Rabbids Tokens are like the Rabbids themselves: mischievous, unpredictable and elusive! They transform every time they get a new owner. Catching them is easy and for a good cause — you make a donation to UNICEF when you nab one from its owner!
Rabbids Token is an effort by the Ubisoft Strategic Innovation Lab, which has previously dabbled with blockchain technology, having supported numerous blockchain startups. In January 2020, the incubator called for blockchain startups to participate in the fifth season of its Entrepreneurs Lab, with the expectation that blockchain technology could be used to enhance social entertainment.
