The shipping fee of the wheat-laden ship originating from Russia's Rostov port to Samsun was paid with Bitcoin. Thus, Bitcoin was used for the first time in international transportation in the world.
Prime Shipping Foundation (PSF), the international transportation between Russia and Turkey, has announced that for the first time in the world shipping charges made by Bitcoin. Ivan Vikulov, CEO of PSF, announced that the transaction with Bitcoin is one of the pilot services they have implemented in commodity trading.
The technology used, according to the company statement, ensures that payments and digital currencies return to other currencies immediately. The group also announced that it has plans to create its own digital currency.
“We are trying to develop a faster and easier international payment system than what is currently available,” says Vikulov. "As far as we know, it was the first payment of transportation costs to date in these cryptocurrencies. ”
In the transportation process using the cryptocurrency, 3 thousand tons of wheat was transported from Russia to Samsun port. Although it is not a very large transportation, it has led to a new way to use international crypto money.
