Odd things from American life
America is not perfect but it is a great place, better than most other nations across the globe. Below are some silly and funny realities of life in America.
Round one
- Pizza can delivered faster to your house than ambulance
- Hot dogs are sold in packs of 10 and buns in packages of 8. Do the math
- Handicapped parking exists in front of skating park(s)
- You can order a double cheese, fries and a Diet Coke...
- We park expensive vehicles in our driveway while the garage is full of junk
- Braille is on drive-up ATM machine (on the drivers side)
Bonus round:
- You need a credit score to rent an apartment but can buy a house with no money down
- The government pays farmers not to grow food while people go hungry
- We have more malls than hospitals and more lawyers than doctors
- Drive-thru liquor stores exist but you can't buy beer on Sunday in some states
- School buses are the safest vehicles on the road yet they have no seatbelts
- We put pineapple on pizza and argue about it like it's a constitutional crisis
- Drug stores make sick walk to back of store, pickup other items up front
- The same people who complain about traffic jams are the ones driving alone in giant SUVs
- Gas station chains are becoming tourist trip destinations or must go-to locations along their journey
- We have more storage units than most countries have housing
- We celebrate Black Friday by fighting over TVs then complain about how materialistic society is
- You can get married in a drive-thru chapel but need three forms of ID to adopt a dog
- You purchase more items to qualify "free" shipping" while shopping online
Supersized Bonus round
- There are warning labels on everything except politics!
- Breakfast cereal gets its own aisle but fresh vegetables share one corner
- "Super Size" meals were discontinued but portion sizes keep growing anyway
- We invent fat-free cookies made with 17 chemicals then wonder why people aren't any healthier
- You can return a half-eaten meal at a restaurant but good luck returning opened software
- While attending State Fairs you can buy fried Twinkies, fried Oreos, and fried butter on a stick — all in the same booth
-
The line for the fried food stands is longer than the line for the first aid tent
Summary
Thanks for exploring some fun facts about the USA and yes we did just celebrate our 250th anniversary. Not sure we will make it another 50-years though with all the fried foods. :-)
