Great tit, genetic changes, diseases, traces of struggle, or maybe just old age?

I have already written about tits many times, because they appeared on my favorite bench many times. The Great Tit, the Gray Tit and the Blue Tit.

Where did such changes in dressing come from?

This time, however, a misfit came. The sight of this tit intrigued me a lot, because I hadn't seen a tit with such a strange coloration before. From a distance it looks like a completely different species of bird, only after closer inspection it turned out to be a tit.

All the characteristics of tit are present. However, I am wondering about the darker plumage, and the characteristic cap, and basically the lack of it. In the case of a rich titmouse, the cap on the head is dark blue, navy blue to black.

Its distinctive cap looked like shreds, remnants of feathers, a meager remnant of a beautiful cap. The information that can be obtained on this is very scarce. There can be many reasons for this appearance. It may be a genetic defect caused by crossbreeding with a related species. This appearance may also be the result of some disease.

Or maybe this is the fighting disposition of the tits, which in the heat of the fight do not care about their beauty and effectively get rid of their impressive plumage. But that's just my guess.

However, old age?

The most likely argument is that it is simply old age. Titmorches do not live too long in natural conditions and changes are probably the result of old age.
