My father use to say that competition was a good thing, it weeds out the weak from the rest of group.
He loved watching NFL and college football every weekend, and even attend some games when he had some free time.
I never liked football, or any sport for that matter, and simply enjoyed being out on the ranch.
I saw in our community how some businesses succeeded, and others failed and often thought about how the family survived after the failure.
You need a great idea that the people really like, so they will keep returning to your business and ignore the other guy.
It was dog eat dog, and for the longest time, I believed that it was the best way.
What I found out was that the United States was built on this notion that competition was healthy.
But in reality, this competition was actually fueling resentment, and stress, and a fear of failure.
It's what causes Joe down the street to want to purchase bigger and better things than you.
It's also what's caused some of the worst poverty in the USA.
Many scream at me saying that to better ourselves, we NEED competition, and to advance, we need the lazy people to lose, and those bringing brighter ideas to win.
I UNDERSTAND that argument, and obviously there are MANY benefits. But what we need to see is that because of this mentality, there are over 5,000 crypto coins, and hundreds of crypto projects that are simply overlooked.
Let's look at the case with ICP.
It was recently broken that the now defunct FTX exchange owner SBF, was trying to destroy ICP in favor of Solana.
Even though everyone knows that ICP is a far superior platform, it didn't stop SBF from actively working to end it.
Many say the price of the coin would be much higher if not for what was going on behind the scenes with FTX.
This kind of nonsense is allowed because people with power and money are able to do it without anyone knowing any different.
Look at the crypto gaming world.
Hundreds of platforms, and many of them only have hundreds of players.
Each one trying to be better than the other.
This is NOT sustainable.
But, what would happen if all of these platforms actually worked TOGETHER, bringing all of these amazing games TOGETHER, onto ONE platform for everyone to enjoy?
Yes, that is competition as well, but on a level much different than being an island unto themselves.
There are platforms that I would have never heard of if not for someone here on PublishOx posting about it.
Should we just say "oh well!" That's life, and if you have great marketing then your project will be seen?
Don't forget the great marketing behind ICP and what happened there...it isn't enough.
PipeFlare has some great games, but only a thousand or more people are playing them. So why aren't more playing? Is it because of bad marketing? No, it's because the platform is diluted to the point that some have only a handful of people, but the game is awesome!
Now, how to cut the competition side out if all these platforms worked together?
First, make sure people try out each game for a certain amount of time, to receive rewards.
Obviously, the players will need a long while to interact with each one, so keeping that in mind, it would be best to keep play time to 20 minutes each game.
There are several ways to make it work, and this should also be implemented in the regular crypto world.
Join forces and bring the coins together. All we need as a society are ways to pay for food, water, clothing, housing and some extras along the way.
Mining/staking/and all other forms need to stop beating each other up and work together...look at a few cryptos that have both.
With the few developers there are, and each platform practically begging devs to come over, wouldn't it be more logical to WORK TOGETHER on a single all encompassing project that brings the best of each Blockchain into one platform?
It isn't rocket science, it's just something project developers won't do because they are too headstrong, and believe theirs is better than everyone else's.
It's actually past time to start working together for a better unregulated crypto economy, but it's still possible.
Building something is not easy, working together is not easy, being a person WILLING to bring ourselves down a peg to make everything better is not easy...but anything worth having and keeping isn't easy...
Remember that.
Anything worth a darn is difficult, but if it is going to bring prosperity for a large amount of people, then it's worth the pain.
We have to stop being the selfish person who believes that only our thoughts and actions are best, and start understanding that without a group, we are facing a more frustrating and difficult journey.
Like my friend use to say when it came to common sense issues, "it ain't hard, bro!"
