Has America Abandoned Netanyahu?

It has been an accepted belief for many years that “Israel governs America.” Although this belief cannot be proven, it is felt that America is a divine protector against all of Israel’s inhumane practices to date.

This divine protection points to a period long before the establishment of Israel after World War II. This period, which is directly related to the purpose of Zionism, coincides with America’s entry into history as a power element towards the end of the nineteenth century.

Zionism, which is an ideological movement based on Jewish nationalism and supports and defends the re-establishment of a Jewish state centuries later in the Palestinian territories, defined as the historical lands of Israel, has not had much difficulty finding legitimacy for this reason.

Let’s not forget that Israel has been taking control of the Palestinian territories it acquired through war and material force for many years through controlled conflicts. It goes without saying that the biggest obstacle to Israel’s transformation into a peaceful regional state is again the result of its own extremists and profiteering system.

Although there has not been much progress in recent years regarding a two-state solution, we could say that a routine process is being experienced with the State of Palestine in terms of military.

When we come to 2023, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has lost his credit in the Israeli public opinion, who is struggling with problems such as corruption accusations in his family, especially his son, and the corruption of his team, was about to lose power.

At this very moment, Hamas came on the scene. According to Yasser Arafat, Hamas was a project developed in partnership with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Mossad and the CIA to balance Fatah in the region. Its main purpose was to give the libertarian Palestinian movement, which was accepted in the world, an Islamic identity. For this reason, the competition between Hamas and Fatah has never ended.

On October 7, 2023, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, known to be under Iranian influence, surprised even the Palestinian and Lebanese Hezbollah and carried out a large-scale terrorist attack throughout Israel. For some reason, they had eluded Mossad and other intelligence units, and the images of the massacre that had spread fear throughout the world were once again being broadcast to the international community.

Netanyahu’s lifeline came from his old friends. Now Netanyahu was on the stage as the commander-in-chief of the army. Who could stop him? The international criminal court? The European Union? The Biden administration in America would not have been able to see the genocide that Israel launched in the Gaza operation, which it launched without sparing women or children, after the October 7 attack, because the election was coming.

International pressure on Israel, which presents the image of an uncontrolled war and massacre machine, is growing every day. Following Spain’s harsh reaction, the UK, France and Canada also warned that they would take “concrete steps” if Israel continued to “heavily” expand its military operations in Gaza. Then, on May 20, the UK announced that it was suspending negotiations for a new trade agreement with Israel. On the same day, the European Union announced that the Association Agreement with Israel would be reviewed.

It is clear that such steps will not stop Netanyahu. After the first disgraceful humiliation of an Israeli Prime Minister in the White House after US President Donald Trump took office, alarm bells began to ring for the ruling Israeli administration.

It is now clear that Trump did not get what he expected from Netanyahu and that he plans to take “steps” in the Middle East without him. The possibility that he is related to the Israel-Saudi Arabia normalization, which has been on the agenda for a long time under US mediation, is just one of them.

In fact, this crisis between the US and Israel has now started to be openly voiced in Israel. The Jerusalem Post newspaper announced that a meeting was held between US officials and the families of Israelis held hostage in Gaza. A senior US official criticized Israel’s stance in the ceasefire and hostage agreement renewal negotiations.

The US no longer has any obstacles to reaching a regional agreement with Saudi Arabia without Israel. Let's hope Trump will deal with Netanyahu.
