I know many of you have had many obstacles along the way over the last couple of years. Many of you who do know me, know me to be an overall private person. What you are about to read isnโ€™t written for you to feel sorry for me (I did enough of that for myself during the last several months). It is written to let you know that whatever challenge life is throwing at you, itโ€™s meant for a reason, and at the end of each obstacleโ€ฆ there is always victory. โฃ
โฃ
Those who know me know me to have been in the past of โ€œTeam No Sleepโ€ a hustler who only survived on naps, Rhodiola (natural energy supplement), and my overall motivation. In the past, I drove cross-country, flew in and out for conventions, tradeshows, and other programs, and managed to work on some organization and virtual projects around it all. โฃ

On September 12, 2021, my world got spun around and turned upside down. I was working a one-off music festival, engaging with attendees, dancing around and having a blast. At one point though I started to feel dizzy and thought that I was โ€œgoing to fall outโ€. I squatted down, looked up and half my vision was black, the other half had the world spinning. I sat down and a colleague ran to give me water. I drank that bottle so fast that some spilled out of my mouth.โฃ
โฃ
At that point, paramedics were already on the scene and trying to tell me that they had to โ€œtake me to the hospitalโ€. I disputed what they were saying, telling them that I just needed to rest in the back and get hydrated. They insisted that I โ€œhad to go right awayโ€. I was pissed off and in my mind โ€œarguing my caseโ€. Anyway, they did their thing and got me into the ambulance all the while asking me repetitive questions. Iโ€™m ever so grateful for my colleague that rode along. All I wanted to do was get back to work.โฃ
โฃ
Once we reached the hospital I asked them why they kept asking me the same questions and why I was even in the hospital. One paramedic said,โ€Maโ€™am, you had a stroke, we didnโ€™t tell you so as to not aggravate the matter. They will take it from here.โ€ The next couple of days were a whirlwind of many tests. I found out that the cause of the stroke was a PFO (hole in my heart) that cause a blood clot to go from my heart to my brain. In addition, the stroke caused partial blindness in my right eye. (the full details will be in the book that Iโ€™m writing regarding the last several months).โฃ

Upon being discharged I was told that my flying and driving were restricted. I was restricted to only being able to work 6 hours a day. What???!!! Nooooo way! I had events booked to fly through at least the end of the year.
๐Ÿ˜žย Thatโ€™s the worst news to give any nomad. Add to it, they told me that Rhodiola couldnโ€™t be a part of my diet anymore either. What?!!! Thatโ€™s what had maintained me all of these years. I later found out that the reason I was tired was because of my heart condition and unbeknownst to me I had suffered other strokes (they had found old strokes sitting in my brain). Luckily, I have the best of friends and family who are truly there. Iโ€™m grateful for my Sister-Friend who, not only waited for me until I was discharged from the hospital, she drove all the way back to Vegas from Cali and allowed me to stay on the team for some of the gigs with my restrictions and all.โฃ
โฃ
Did I mention that included with all that happened I also had a failed relationship on account of my medical issues? Everything happens for a reason and even for that, Iโ€™m grateful. What to do about work? I managed to take on some minimal virtual assistant projects and maintained some organization projects. My energy levels fluctuated and it sucked not to know when I would have the energy to work. Fast forward to today: Iโ€™m lining myself up with clients, setting myself up with affiliate programs, and more. Iโ€™ll be posting more about those in the coming days and months. So, if you are looking for financial resources I will have them for you. Tough times donโ€™t last long.โฃ
โฃ
If you have read this far, thank you for reading. Know that *nothing* in life can stop you. It may pause you a little bit, but it wonโ€™t stop you. This journey has taught me many lessons: to adapt, to discern who is truly there for me, and to be grateful despite my medical issues and whatever obstacles life throws. Life will teach you who is truly there for you to support you. While you are adapting, life will present opportunities that are perfectly aligned with what you needย in life. Keep your head upโ€ฆ. it all gets better.

My Stroke Journey

On September 21, 2021, my world got spun around and turned upside down. I suffered a stroke while at work. I will document some of my journey here, resources, and more. This is in preparation for my book that will list full details of events from beginning to end. If you are a stroke survivor I would love to hear from you. Your stroke is an obstacle, but not the end of life.
