Intimate War

By BRIGHTMIND10 | Book of Living Poetry | 11 Feb 2022

The greatest game I ever played, I played alone but you chose to stay,

Even though we each take turns, each piece that is taken is a lesson learned.

I do not know where I move next, strategically you are more complex....

Throughout our fights, blinded in our blurred vision, drifting between the Lines of wrongs and rights....

A rookie move a pawn vs knight and with checkered hearts in the pain we delight.

So even though I play alone, I want to remember the squares of my home.

Each space I stepped was equal to yours, but the care you put in made this less of a war.

I may not hold many pieces left, but with those I do I will earn your respect.

So be the King, as I am our Queen. You rule the board but I enforce the team.

We talk of love and speak of war I beat you down just to pick you up.

As though we are on the exact same sides, cadavers of fate, our views remain as different as black and white.

In the end  my love is sore, my faith tipped over, I am left feeling expendable, like a piece on the board.

I wanted to dedicate a page to poetry and sonnets , I was inspired by life and the betrayal of friends and family yet through the pain I found what I was made of and I am both happy and sad.
