What is Wownero?

Wownero aimed to create a Doge-Inspired, CPU-Mineable, privacy-centralized currency, and so it did. On April 1st 2018, Wownero was launched.

Wownero is a part fork of Monero, the popular cryptocurrency on the randomX algorithm. RandomX is a Proof Of Work algorithm that is specially optimized for standard CPU's, this allows for average joe's to mine cryptocurrency from the comfort of their own personal computer. More is to be spoken about mining later.

Wownero has a deflationary fixed supply of 184,467,440 coins meaning that there is not an infinite supply of the coin, this is created in order to enable the coin to hold value. Wownero plans to release these coins slowly over the course of 50 years.

I was lucky enough to speak to the current CEO of Wownero, Jwinterm, and ask him a few questions about the cryptocurrency.

Jwinterm stated that 'Wownero was a meme made by some other folks that I knew from monero community online - I made it for two reasons, to see if I could and to make fun of monerov, a scammy chain fork of monero' He then further stated that 'I don't really hope to see wownero anywhere in the future, maybe in the Bahamas?' Continuing 'Wownero is different from almost every other cryptocurrency because it doesn't take itself too seriously, and there is almost nothing scammy about it, probably most similar to doge.' 

Mining Wownero

A friend was able explain Wownero mining briefly and made a youtube video on Wownero mining, profits etc. 

He stated 'Recently, there was an update on July 4th that got rid of pool mining for wownero You can only solo mine wownero now. Most miners refer solo mining as a lottery ticket. Instead of trying to find a block with other miners you try and find one yourself. A block is like a box or a chest with the cryptocurrency itself, 1 block of wownero as of now is 127.28 wowneros. I recommend to have at least a cpu like a ryzen 9 3900x or something similar. The more computing or hashing power you have, the more likely you will find these blocks to mine for yourself.'
