Airdrops, Airdrops, Airdrops!

By TS90 | My Crypto Failure | 13 Feb 2022

As I have announced in my previous article on the most significant airdrops I have received, this article will cover a few airdrops I am looking forward to and how I am positioning myself to receive as many high-quality airdrops as possible.

Whether or not this strategy makes sense for you is something you need to determine for yourself but I have been pretty happy with it so far.

Evmos airdrop

From what I have heard and read, this one might become one of the largest airdrops in Q1. Evmos themselves announce it as “better than a Stimulus Check”.

If you haven´t heard of Evmos before, this is how they describe their chain:

Evmos is an application-agnostic chain that will be interoperable with the Ethereum Mainnet, EVM-compatible environments, and other BFT chains via IBC, making it easy for users and developers to easily move value between chains.

This means Evmos will provide a connection between the Ethereum and Cosmos ecosystems and act as a gateway for Ethereum users and developers into the Cosmos ecosystem.

There are a plethora of ways to be eligible for this one as they want to reward active users of the Cosmos ecosystem as well as “victims” of gas fees on Ethereum as well as people who lost money in large exploits.

You might be eligible for this one if you have staked >5 $ATOM and/or >20 $OSMO on November 25th 2021 and one of the following applies to you:

  • Cosmos Hub User
  • Osmosis User
  • User of a range of Ethereum apps (the “gasdrop”)
  • User of EVM Bridges (Arbitrum, Wormhole, etc)
  • Victim of large exploit/rug pull

For more details, please have a look at the official airdrop announcement.

While this might be the largest airdrop for $ATOM and $OSMO stakers, this will by no means be the only airdrop from the Cosmos ecosystem in the near future.

I have a pretty broad exposure to the crypto market but the Cosmos ecosystem is certainly the one I am most bullish about for 2022.

JunoSwap airdrop

JunoSwap is the decentralized exchange of the Juno network. It is still in beta but there are several liquidity pools online already. Contrary to Osmosis, there are no incentivized pools, yet, meaning you “only” collect fees on the swaps executed via the liquidity pools.

Like Osmosis, JunoSwap is launching their own token called $RAW and will airdrop the token to their early users.

JunoSwap hav already confirmed the details of their airdrop and there will be a snapshot some time in February so you´ll need to hurry if you want a part of it.

You can find the full details in JunoSwap´s “black paper”.

I am staking $ATOM and $OSMO anyway and I have already started providing liquidity on JunoSwap ($JUNO/$ATOM and $JUNO/$SCRT) so I am hoping to get a decent share of this airdrop.

Since JunoSwap is comparable to Osmosis, this airdrop might reach a similar size; meaning this has the potential to be worth several thousand dollars.

Ther currently is a proposal (proposal #14) live for $JUNO holders that ends on February 16th so it might make sense to stake your $JUNO and $ATOM before that date.

Sonic airdrop

To make this list not solely about the Cosmos ecosystem, I am including this one on the Internet Computer.

Sonic is building a decentralized exchange on the Internet Computer blockchain. I have tried it and I do like the user experience.

Currently, there is only a $WICP/$XTC pair but it is enough to give you the general idea.

Sonic have already confirmed they will be doing an airdrop to early users and if, like me, you are new to the Internet Computer chain, this might be a great chance to get to know it and be rewarded for it.

You can buy ICP on any exchange (I have used Binance but any exchange should be fine) and then move it to your Plug wallet which you need to connect to Sonic. Once you have your ICP on Sonic, you can exchange half for XTC and then start providing liquidity.

For general information on providing liquidity, you can read this article.

My airdrop strategy

On top of the airdrops outlined above, there are dozens more coming up and I am trying to position myself to get a decent share of the most significant airdrops.

To me, the most crucial assumption is that the place to be, not only when it comes to airdrops, is the Cosmos ecosystem.

I have been staking $ATOM for months and the $STARS airdrop alone has earned me more than 1000$ as a reward. I´m convinced this is merely the start for me and I am staking decent chunks of $ATOM, $OSMO, $JUNO and $SCRT; this put me in a decent position for future airdrops like the ones from Evmos and JunoSwap mentioned above.

Outside of the Cosmos ecosystem, I try to engage with early stage crypto projects as much as I can. I participate in testnets (Timeswap might be relevant for a future airdrop), I join Discord servers to learn about projects, and regularly google for upcoming airdrops.

The most crucial thing is to verify the airdrops you find are legitimate. I advise you to do proper research into the projects, read whitepapers and engage with the core team or relevant followers of smaller projects to make sure they are legit.
