Sixth in a series of deeply intimate "strange epigrams" for two glass armonicas, exploiting the ethereal qualities of this instrument. Though a stylized "Écossaise" ("Scottish dance", though of French provenance) featuring the characteristic "Scotch snap" rhythmic figure, the tenebrous harmony and concentrated approach to motivic development suggests something more psychologically volatile than a rustic dance. The painting in the video is a detail from "The Angel of Splendour" by Jean Delville.
