Will this become the BandLab desktop solution I’ve been looking for?
For those like me who haven’t caught word of what Cakewalk is doing, they are amid working on two new paid tiers of software: Next and Sonar.
Sonar is a newly skinned version of the “Cakewalk By BandLab” desktop DAW. However, Next is offering a lot of idea-catching features that the BandLab web and mobile apps feature. Plus, a desktop-level music production app with deeper integration with BandLab’s features and services:
This is what I’ve been searching for. A proper BandLab-integrated music-making environment on my desktop, with no latency between my physical instruments and my BandLab song. Sure, I can just use the mobile app to accomplish this… but what if I get inspiration and my phone battery is almost dead?
You can request beta access to the software, which I’ve already done. Will try to comment on this article and/or post another update article once I’ve gotten my creative hands on the software. Until then, I will try to keep my hype meters in check.
What do you guys think? Really would like to know what existing Cakewalk Sonar users feel about this… as it’s not clear if you will have to buy Sonar again or not…
