Like many people, I got into crypto because I saw people making money by doing simple things: claiming airdrops, completing quests, and holding small tokens that could explode.
But what happens when you’re starting from just $14 in your wallet, no big investments, and you’re trying to grow it without spending more money?
That’s me.
I decided to document my journey and share every win and every mistake — so others can learn and maybe avoid the same traps.
And this? This was my first big mistake.
🧪 The Airdrop That Got Away
I came across a promising airdrop from a legit DeFi project. The steps were easy:
- Connect your wallet
- Complete a few simple tasks (Twitter, Discord)
- Wait for the drop
I did everything. Or so I thought.
A week later, people started posting their rewards — small amounts of ETH, stablecoins, and a new token that had already 3x’ed in value.
I rushed to check mine…
Nothing.
Not even a “sorry” token.
😩 What I Did Wrong
Turns out, I didn’t verify my wallet through their official verification link. It was a small step at the end of the form — the kind of thing you overlook if you’re rushing or distracted.
I assumed connecting MetaMask was enough. It wasn’t.
That tiny mistake cost me what would’ve been at least $20–$30 worth of tokens — a big deal when you’re working with a $14 starting point.
🎯 What I Learned (So You Don’t Have to)
- Always double-check airdrop instructions.
Read everything — even the fine print at the end. - Don’t rush.
Sometimes being fast makes you miss small but important steps. - Follow updates.
Join project Discords and turn on Twitter notifications. If I had, I would’ve seen reminders about the wallet verification step. - Keep track of what you’ve done.
I now use a small Google Sheet to track each airdrop I apply for — including links, task status, and deadlines.
📈 Still On the Journey
I didn’t let that mistake stop me.
I’m still trying to grow my wallet from $14 to $100 (and beyond) — without spending extra money, just by claiming free airdrops, doing quests, and using Web3 tools.
And I’ll be sharing everything — from the small wins to the big Ls — so if you’re also starting from scratch or just curious, follow along.
