Did you know that the giant monument in the background is "The Victor" (Pobednik)?
It is actually Belgrade's most famous monument located within the Belgrade Fortress (Kalemegdan).
This unique fortress is one of the largest in Europe.
It is an impressive complex with a history spanning more than 2000 years that has been built and rebuilt several times, by the Romans, Serbians, Turks, and Austrians, giving it a unique multicultural legacy.
The strategic location on the confluence of two rivers, the Danube and Sava, has made it highly coveted throughout history. Although long and bloody, the fortress has witnessed many battles and now is a place for enjoying the sunset view.
