Resources in Mortegard serve an integral role in forming and maintaining your empire. These resources are represented as ERC-20 tokens and are produced by owning and staking castles and developing their land in our kingdom building client.
Mortegard is a fantasy kingdom game built for the Polygon Network. In the Kingdom Building client, you may place castles and claim land which you can then further develop to produce more, and specific, resources. Use these resources to increase the output and monetary power of your kingdom, or to participate in story events that shape the fate of the land of Mortegard.
Resources
Resources serve as the foundation of the game’s economy, and are produced passively by castles, and their surrounding land, if sufficiently upgraded through the use of development tiles. When you are ready to claim what has been stockpiled, you can simply click the 'harvest resources' button in the Kingdom Building client to have them sent to your connected web3-compatible wallet.
Food
Food is produced primarily by the Hunting Ground card and its subsequent upgrades, however, there are other development paths that can bolster your food production such as the Monastery.
Gold
Gold is primarily produced by taxing citizens of settlements such as Hamlets and Villages. However, there are other ways of gaining gold, such as encouraging the opening of taverns, or creating mining communities.
Iron
Iron is the true means of stability in a society. It is found in Mineral Veins and Mines, but there are also strange magically-petrified forests that produce iron alongside wood, and a creature known as the irondrake, which produces the ferrous metal both in its eggs and scales.
Mana
Mana is distilled magical energy which can be stockpiled in magically enriched stones, gems and artifacts. Typically, Sacred Grounds and Prayer Sites will be the fountain of mana in a kingdom. But there are always other means – temples, enchanted woods, and special limited-run developments which produce copious amounts of mana are all effective options to build your reserves.
Wood
Wood is irreplaceable as you grow your kingdom, as many development structures are built from it. Woodlands and Lumber Mills serve as the primary means of production, so don’t overlook them as you expand your empire. Players can always snag an occasional cartload of trimmings from Orchards, as well as through various other means, if they need to diversify their sources.
Uniswap LPs
Players can sell their excess resources, as well as fill their empty vaults, using the UniSwap Liquidity Pools for each resource. Some players may even build their economies to become specialized in certain resources, making their fortune by supplying resources to other kingdoms.
Breaking Down Developments
There is one final way of attaining resources that players might overlook, and that is the breaking down of developments. Opportune players may look at acquiring developments from other players and breaking them down for their resources, or breaking down developments they no longer require in order to get the resource they need to accomplish their goals.
Build Your Economy
Balancing or specializing your economy is an integral part of building your empire in Mortegard. With the correct resources at the ready, you will be able to participate in story events and win the loyalty of courtiers, get access to special developments, build an income stream by supplying other players, or hoard mass amounts of resources to get ready for special events or new game mechanics.
