Sing your praises to the Lord! Shout from the tallest mountains: He has risen!
What happens when we give up on ourselves? No matter what we do, in that situation we have submitted to our own weaknesses and fear. Yet, here is the wild part of it all: God has never given up on us. We can convince ourselves that God has given up on us, but we'd be lying to ourselves. I think there's some inborn desire to be the most important thing to God and man. Some deep spark that fuels our egos and gives us perceived purpose.
Oh to be the most important thing in the universe, or so we wish. To have all that we desire and more. Unfortunately, the truth is, God has already given us the one thing that brings true peace. And not unfortunately.
How interesting is that? We will become so distracted by our own personal desires, we blind ourselves to the true power of the Lord by looking inward, not toward God. And in His infinite wisdom, he places Himself in plain sight for us to see everywhere. And like some cosmic paddle and ball, as we come speeding back to Him, the further we get away from Him, the harder He whacks us to get our attention.
Enjoy the gifts of the Lord. For His fruit is the sweetest. His truth is THE nourishment we seek. All other paths lead to empty hollow shadows of what could possibly be.
