Justin Sun announced the creation of BitTorrent X, a protocol that will host all BitTorrent services
In this regard, Sun spoke about the plans for the creation of BitTorrent X after the acquisition of DLive, with the intention that this is a platform to host all the services associated with BitTorrent.
Justin Sun, CEO of TRON, announced last week the creation of an ecosystem called BitTorrent X after reporting on the acquisition of the e-sports platform DLive.
The developer highlighted that the purpose of the platform will be to host all BitTorrent-related services in one place that will take advantage of the use of the BTT token.
"BitTorrent X represents the transformation of BitTorrent, a world-renowned peer-to-peer service from a software company into a conglomerate of decentralized storage and data protocols and content delivery platforms," Sun noted.
Sun highlighted how BitTorrent started out as a data transfer protocol used by two billion users, including Facebook, Twitter, and Blizzard. From this point of view and due to the characteristics of the protocol, the manager considers it to be one of the precursors of decentralization.
"After I acquired it in 2018, @BitTorrent continued its current business while exploring more ways to collaborate with #BTT cryptocurrency and bring Blockchain and cryptocurrencies to mass adoption."
The creation of BitTorrent X marks "the beginning of a new era" for the BitTorrent protocol, according to the announcement, and in addition to being a major brand in the information transfer industry, Sun hopes it will become the next generation ecosystem. for decentralized data storage.
Sun to offer more details on BitTorrent X
BitTorrent X will consist of the following protocols: BitTorrent File System, BitTorrent, DLive, and its streaming protocol DLive:
“In one big step, the BitTorrent X ecosystem can power Blockchain-related tools to billions of devices. A large number of users will have access to the next era of products to share, store and transmit content directly to anyone on the web.
Sun is expected to provide more details on the project in November. DLive CEO Charles Wayn expressed his excitement about the acquisition and said the platform will have a fresh start.
“We are more than excited to join the BitTorrent ecosystem as the collaboration will provide us with more innovative solutions to empower content creators and reward communities. Together with the team, we look forward to bringing disruptive innovations to the digital media space, as well as creating value for our global community, ”added Wayn.
DLive, BitTorrent, and TRON partnered at the end of 2019. DLive was conceived as a platform to reward content creators with a reward system. At that time, this was one of the options proposed by the cryptocurrency community to replace YouTube since the video platform had censored several channels and accounts related to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.☺
