Whether you’re just sticking your big toe in to test the waters, or you’ve taken a deep dive into the Metaverse, you’ll notice that time waits for no one here. In fact, it moves at warp speeds, and the feeling of urgency it creates leaves you with that sink-or-swim feeling if you aren’t prepared.
1 week easily translates into a month or more in this world, but if you’re here now (at the end of 2021) you are still an early adopter! You may be hot on a project or eyeing your own by now, but what’s the plan…do you have one?
Admittedly, part of the appeal of this ‘Wild WAGMI West’ era that’s unfolding is the decentralization of it all. These wide open spaces where anything feels possible abound, and we’re all eager to shake off the corporate confines we’re more accustomed to. So many, MANY of the project pioneers are building their dreams a bit blindly…throwing up the walls as they go, trying to keep up with the pace of the moment & deciding to ‘worry about those details later’ as they scramble to make it all happen. The chaos and excitement seem to fuel the beginning of projects but when roadblocks appear that energy can begin to wane & grow quite thin if you don’t have answers to questions that inevitably rise.
A few of us are coming to these spaces with small business backgrounds, and we are certainly used to juggling, hitting the floor running, and building projects on a wing & a prayer. But the one super power many of us who had brick and mortars IRL bring that seems to be lacking in these spaces…is business planning.
YES, it’s tedious. YES, it’s meant to make you question everything about why you’re pursuing this thing. YES, it makes you think about the shit you don’t want to think about (like what are the barriers to entry, where is there a need for your idea/product/service, etc.) And, YES it’s truly essential to the success of any business. Maybe that’s the disconnect, though. Are you treating your crypto or NFT project as a small business? If you’re in it to win it and for the long haul, you should be.
