Ghosts in the Shadows

Solana takes a bold step into the shadows with the introduction of Confidential Balances, a privacy-focused upgrade by Helius that brings zero-knowledge encryption to token activity. Users can now conceal their balances, mint and burn tokens, and pay fees without leaving a public trace - offering a whole new level of discretion. The technology hinges on three token extensions fused into a single ZK-powered standard, marking a quiet but powerful shift in Solana's user experience. Support for mobile and browser wallets is on the horizon, with JavaScript-based ZK libraries expected to arrive later this year, promising even smoother adoption.

Meanwhile, Aavegotchi is packing its bags and heading to Base. The DAO voted overwhelmingly in favor of a full migration from Polygon, with nearly 10 million votes backing the plan to ‘Make Aavegotchi Based Again.’ In the coming weeks, all smart contracts and assets will be replicated and relaunched on Base in a one-way transition that leaves old assets on Polygon permanently frozen. Pixelcraft Studios says the move is designed to streamline onboarding and enhance user experience, with added protections for NFTs on major marketplaces via a new wrapper contract. Despite the excitement, GHST has dipped slightly, down 2.3% as broader market pressures linger.
