Ah, this took awhile, but it's something I'm awful excited to show you. I'm finishing my first year of designing houses as a business, and I got REALLY GOOD with this program that I use to make that happen. if you like this stuff, more to come. JOIN ME ON PATREON for first access.
I have come up with some concepts earlier here related to this very idea a couple years ago, but I didn't have the capacity to REALLY REALIZE it in any way... until now.
THE GENESIS OF THE IDEA
I've been pretty obsessed with the idea of "dome homes" for some time, and there are some extremely good reasons why.
First, a sphere (or half sphere) has the benefit of maximizing volume, while minimizing surface area. Less exterior wall area for sunlight to hit your home, the less energy it takes to heat up said house. This equates to energy savings over the long run, which means it takes less resources to maintain a comfortable temperature in the house.
Second, minimal surface area equates in practice to minimized resource consumption in constructing the home. This is important, especially if we want to minimize the initial capital costs associated with construction.
This is actually the first of a couple other types of buildings I'm coming up with, the next one will probably be major "campus facilities" such as a clinic, library, etc. More to come.
In any case, here's some images for the oohs and aahs:

This is an exterior view of the front, by the entrance. Note the multiple domes that are rooms added onto a main structure.

This is a birds eye view of the residence. Note the solar panels as well as the side area that connects to the battery bank, inverter, etc.

Here's another view of the solar panels and the inverter/breaker/battery bank. the community will have a decentralized energy infrastructure. If one unit goes out, it can draw from say, a neighbor as a backup until repairs can be made.

This is the front porch and entrance into the home. I wanted to make a place where you could relax at the end of the day, spend time with your loved ones, and see everything within the community from the comfort of your home.
Let's go inside and take a look at the amenities.

This is the kitchen, which is one sector of four on the lower level. dining table is within the kitchen sector.

Another sector is a laundry area. Pretty self explanatory.

Third sector is a reading area and personal library space.

Fourth sector is the spiral staircase entrance to the upstairs living space.

This is a bedroom, one of three rooms in the residence. Note the window for egress.

This is the bathroom/shower area. Note the composting toilet.
Let's go upstairs and see the top living space.

This is the living space, with television and game table.

This is another view of the top floor.
Let me know what you think!
