As I am one of the many people unfortunately impacted by inflation in 2024, losing my most recent job as a manager in the Media Technology industry, I have spent some of my newly freed time researching passive income opportunities. In my search of this space, I see many promotional-type articles that hype up potential earnings but don’t deliver in reality. I have often felt my time wasted due to such occurrences.
Due to many folks using this site as a residual income source, I figured an article covering a few of my favorite passive income opportunities would be well received. Each of these opportunities includes no startup costs and requires either no or minimal ongoing effort once the set-up is complete. The majority of these opportunities are best suited for PC & Laptop machines, although, most of them can utilize any type of device (Tablet, Mobile, etc.) for earning. We will specify the type of opportunity and best device for each program.
Finally, this article is supported by the inclusion of my personal links and codes. EarnApp is one of many platforms in our Internet Sharing category. These platforms allow a user to monetize their unused internet bandwidth to platform partners. Those partners pay for this bandwidth to do various things such as advertisement verification, price comparisons, and etc.
Personally, EarnApp has been the most consistent in terms of regular usage and payment for my unused internet. Paying out at $1 / Gigabyte shared I am seeing roughly 250 MB internet shared each day for $.25 earnings. As the minimum withdrawal on this platform is only $2.50 I am seeing a payment roughly every week and a half. I have already received over $12 in payments for roughly two months of use.
Registration and set-up are incredibly simple. Just head over to EarnApp, register with your email, and download the correct application for your device. In my case, it is a simple Google Chrome plugin on MacOS Laptop. Once you’re earning, configure your payment settings to automatically receive payment to the desired account, and then you’re done! EarnApp earns in the background without any action from you.
There is a mobile version available for iOS & Android, but the main drawback is that earning only occurs when this app is opened, while the Desktop & Laptop versions can continue earning in the background. If you enjoy the experience, you can invite others with your personal code to earn a 10% bonus of their earnings.

There are multiple ways to increase earnings with Ember. You can head to the tournaments tab and participate in free crypto tournaments including a free-for-all where you pick the three cryptos you think will perform the best, and face-off mode, where two cryptos are pitted against each other. There are new free tournaments every 7 hours, and the top 50% of participants win some extra satoshis per the prize-pool assigned to each tournament. There is also the predictions tab where users can predict the outcomes of sports matches. While the free prediction opportunities are available less regularly than the tournaments, there are generally free prediction opportunities a few times each week.
Earnings can be redeemed to external crypto wallets, or invested directly within the app via tokens or funds. Slice is a browser extension that pays users to view non-intrusive ads. I use Slice in combination with Brave browser to supercharge my crypto earnings while browsing. Slice ads themselves are user-friendly, appearing as small thumbnails on the right-hand side of the screen that are easily closable. The slice dashboard also offers a daily opportunity to view up to three video ads for extra earnings each day.
If this ad-supported experience works for you, Slice also offers Slice Tab & Slice X. Slice Tab allows the user to receive more ads by updating their new tab homepage. Slice X mimics the Slice browser extension, but allows ads to be served in offline desktop tasks. Pi Network is a cryptocurrency launched in 2019 backed by a Proof-Of-Work algorithm allowing regular people to participate via a daily smartphone check-in. Users who participate are rewarded with the native token, Pi. While this token is not yet easily available to trade, sources such as CoinMarketCap show it currently valued around $40 per coin.
At the time of writing, the base mining rate of Pi is .004 / hour. However, this can be easily improved with simple tasks such as: completing KYC, configuring lockup settings, receiving a multiplier for daily participation, and more.
