In the 2019 bear market, a large number of cryptocurrency projects become faded. But through data on projects that no longer exist on DeadCoins.com, a few interesting things have been found. According to the website, at least the number of blockchain projects 'left the game' in 2019 is less than in 2018.
DeadCoins.com said 1,840 cryptocurrency projects have been shut down since September 2017. According to that data, 2019 has a total of 518 similar projects, 20% less than 647 projects in 2018.
DeadCoins.com divides projects into 4 categories: Dead, hacked, scam and parody. The majority of discontinued projects are classified as scams. In 2019 and 2018, 58% and 55% of projects fall into this category respectively. Dead projects accounted for 35% in 2019 and 38% in 2018. The rest were hacked or parody.
The reasons why blockchain projects stop working in 2019 and 2018 are similar in proportion.

In 2019, most blockchain projects 'died' in the first quarter. Specifically, 115, 48 and 120 projects died in January, February and March, accounting for more than half of the total of the year. In the second quarter, there were only 83 projects "about eternity." This difference can be explained by broader market factors such as Bitcoin and other crypto asset prices that have steadily increased throughout most of the second quarter.
