Have you read this novel? Do you encountered it in your High school years? Does events in this novel is similar to reality? If you don't know this novel, it is a novel written by our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, in his first novel titled Noli Me Tangere in English "Touch me not", it is more on social status of people during Spanish colonization, it tackles there the difference of Filipinos to Spaniards, people during Spanish era is called Indios means the lowest status in society. In this novel the main character there is Crisostomo Ibarra, he belong to wealthy people in Philippines thats why his status is high, when he came back to philippines from Spain there was a feast for him and all wealthy people in that community is invited even the prayles, when Crisostomo was in that event he received many compliments and he was happy while enjoying the feast for him. But there was a girl caught his attention and that is Maria Clara, he starts to court Maria Clara and they fall inlove to each other but the conflicts begin since prayles starts to get all the land of Ibarras and it makes Crisostomo angry, but the prayles are too powerful, they accused Crisostomo rebelling in Spain that why he was hunt, in the river the Guardia Civil hunting him and shot him, the stain of blood flows in water and confirming that Crisostomo is dead. In this novel you can witness the unbalance treatment between Filipinos and Spaniards, since Filipinos are treated like slaves and no rights to educate and they will just learn to plow crops in mountains.

The second novel is El Filibusterismo in English "In the Greenfield" it is novel that tackles about political situation in Philippines during Spanish colonization, the main character in this novel is Simon, he was a jewelry seller that come to San Diego to sell his jewelries, while he was at the ship that traveling in Pasig River, there are discussions on how to fastened the way of ships, Simon answered in discussion like he wants Filipinos work for it without payments or food. Wealthy people in upper deck shook in his suggestion but they know Simon as the right hand of Governor-General of Philippines. But in this novel, Simon wants Filipinos to feel that pain so that they will rebel against Spanish empire and gain freedom, Also, Simon plan all this so that he can take revenge to all people who harm him when he was Crisostomo Ibarra, with lots of money Simon successfully planned an attack but in the end its still a failure, he died without gaining the freedom and just say the words that in the future Filipinos will wake up from this nightmare and they will fight for their freedom.

This novel makes me realized that we are lucky right now that we are free to move, while on Spanish time, Filipinos are receiving pain from Spaniards, we are lucky that we gain freedom because our heroes fight for it, I hope this will never happen again that other nation is conquering us. Maybe if that happen Filipinos will fight for their rights and defend our sovereignity.
