It's counterintuitive but, for whatever reason, it's a trend that billionaires don't spend money.

In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov says he doesn't even own a home. In fact, he doesn't own much.

The reason? He says owning a place ties you up to a location, and he'd rather focus on Telegram anyway.

Elon Musk famously owns pretty much nothing, apart from things he needs and uses for work (a private jet, for example).

Ingvar Kamprad, founder of Ikea, was famously extremely stingy.

The list goes on. Warren Buffett is also notoriously tight with his money.

One of the side effects of my premature mid-life crisis is I've realised things are, for the most part, useless.

I love watches, I want the best tech because I need it for work, I like sneakers. And I like cars.

But what's the point of buying a new t-shirt every day, I'd rather spend money on experiences rather than on things.

I guess, when you're billionaire, there's nothing you can't own. So it must get tiring. Or boring. The universe is weird, isn't it?
