Losing your crypto is one of the most painful feelings anyone can pass through, probably because you might have heard it is impossible to retrieve your crypto when it is lost.
I will be showing you different ways to recover your tokens.
SENT USING A WRONG NETWORK
Many crypto users do not know or understand what network means in crypto and why they are essential.
If you send from an address in a network of ETH to an address in a network of BTC, you might be left hanging as your token will not hit your account.
So what do you do when you have an instance where you sent a coin from Binance to metamask using the wrong network.
Follow these steps to recover your token.
First, log into your Metamask,
Go to add networks and input the following details
- Network Name: Binance_Chain
- New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/
- Chain ID: 56
- Currency Symbol: BNB
- Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com
Save it and you should see something like this.
Next, we are going to import tokens but before you do this, copy your ETH address from your metamask main net.
Copy the address of the ETH and fill it in the import token page of the Binance_chain we created then the token symbol is ETH and the Token decimal is 18
If this is done correctly you will see your coin appear in the BNB account we created.
Invalid Address Send
Most wallets will verify the receiver address validity authorizing the token movement.
Networks like Bitcoin are popular networks that authenticate the address that the user will send the coin to, and if the coin is invalid, The network will not approve the transactions. It protects the user from mistakes.
Another User
Knowing you sent your token to the wrong user is painful, and you do not know if they will be so kind as to return your coin.
Over 2 million coins have been lost sending to the wrong user; if you are in such a situation, do the following, try and get the transaction details from etherscan.io; Reddit is an excellent place to get people to help you track if you can contact the user.
If the user sends the coin back, you are one in a million; other than that; your coin is gone.
I know all of this makes crypto hard for many people to dive into as the risks are way too high as crypto is still early.
I am working on a white paper where tokens should not be this risky, and getting your coin back should be possible through what I call the tunnel-of-light return policy to get your fund back while retaining crypto decentralization and security.
