Crypto like Bitcoin is one of the most popular Crypto ,people love to invest. To own and use crypto you need a wallet. A wallet does not actually “store” the coins. It stores the private keys (secret codes) that prove the coins belong to you.
The purpose of writing this article is just to make people aware about buying those nano ledger wallet to keep and store safely all valuable assets like BTC. I have read recently one incident which are seriously make you shocking and rethink while you store your BTC .
There are different kinds of wallets. Some are easy but less safe. Others are safer but need more care.
Look at the comparison table

- On exchanges like Coinbase or Binance the company holds the keys for you. Convenient for buying and selling, risky for long-term storage.
- Software wallets (phone or computer apps) keep the keys on your device. Fine for small amounts.
- Hardware wallets are small physical devices that keep the keys offline. This is the category most people use when they want serious long-term protection.
Ledger is one of the biggest names in hardware wallets. The first image shows some of their popular models (Stax, Flex, Nano Gen5, Nano X, Nano S Plus). They are designed so the secret keys never leave the device. You connect them to an app (Ledger Wallet), but the final approval of any transaction happens on the device screen itself. The recovery method is a 24-word secret phrase. Anyone who has those 24 words can control the funds.
I personally will not advice someone put all their hard earned money in the in name of investment in crypto asset because these are not as safe as you keep your investment asset in bank , or government portal.
Govt. still not fully able to regulate and control over these asset due to blockchain algorithm and any such scam or loss can be happen . These hardware wallet is also not safe as i found through one story circulating on internet that a man bought ledger device from ebay ecommerce and lost his BTC once he stored in it.

The recent news
In October 2026 many people who bought Ledger devices from one official Southeast Asian reseller (CryptoBilis) lost large amounts of crypto. One well-known case was about 80 Bitcoin (roughly $6.6 million at the time). Researchers estimated total losses in the tens or even over a hundred million dollars across hundreds of wallets.
Ledger’s own investigation found that the problem was not a hack of Ledger’s systems. It was a physical supply-chain attack. Some devices sold by that reseller had been opened and fitted with a hidden implant. When the user set up the wallet and the screen showed the 24 recovery words, the implant copied those words and sent them out over the mobile network. The main security chip inside the Ledger stayed untouched, so the device still looked genuine.
Ledger has said all confirmed stolen cases so far came from that one reseller. Devices bought directly from Ledger’s own website were not affected. Their advice was clear: if you bought from CryptoBilis recently and have not set it up, do not set it up. If you already set it up, move your crypto to a brand-new device bought from the official site and generate a completely new 24-word phrase.
Simple lessons anyone can remember
- Hardware wallets are still one of the safer ways to hold crypto long-term because the keys stay offline.
- The biggest remaining risk is often not the device itself but where you buy it and how you set it up.
- Never share your 24-word phrase with anyone. Never type it into a website or computer. Write it down and store it safely offline.
- When possible, buy hardware wallets only from the official manufacturer website.
- For everyday small spending, a software wallet can be fine. For savings you do not plan to touch often, a hardware wallet (bought carefully) is usually better.
Crypto can feel complicated, but the core idea is simple: control your own keys if you want full control of the money. The tools exist. The recent news just reminds us that the human and supply-chain parts of the system still need attention.
Summery:
- Never take risk buying any cheap wallet device from online seller like ebay , amazon, alibaba or any other retailer. if you need to store then go to manufacturer and order it.
- Never buy used device as we know it may be rooted or added malware .
- Never invest all your money in one source of return .
- Digital scam is quite fast so avoid jumping if not aware the system.
