In crypto, there’s always a new project coming. A new blockchain, a new token, a new promise… You can’t follow everything.
But Arc made me want to take a closer look.
Behind this project is Circle, the company behind USDC. Its website says the main network launch is approaching, with this message: “Mainnet is coming soon.” Source: Arc
Naturally, I wanted to understand what this network would bring to the table.
Fees paid in USDC? That already gets my attention.
Arc is a Layer 1 blockchain designed for stablecoins and financial applications. It plans to support transaction fees paid in USDC, with dollar-denominated costs intended to make fees more predictable. Source: Arc’s official overview
When you use several networks, having to keep a little of each cryptocurrency to cover fees gets annoying pretty quickly. You have the funds, you want to make a transaction… and you’re missing the right token to approve it. 😅
So yes, this approach interests me. Now I want to see how it works in practice.
The launch will be the start of the real test.
Arc targets uses such as payments, transfers, treasury management, and tokenized assets. The project also aims to make it easier for applications and software agents to exchange value. Source: Arc
On paper, there’s plenty of potential. But what I want to see after launch is which applications are available and how useful they are in everyday situations.
Is it easy to use? Are the fees reasonable? Is there a good reason to come back after trying it?
That’s where the project will have to prove itself.
And naturally, I’m thinking about AI agents too.
With what I’m building around my project, I’m paying close attention to solutions that could let an agent buy information or pay for a service.
A complicated payment process can quickly spoil an otherwise interesting experience. If we want these uses to grow, that part needs to be smooth.
I’m not saying my project will use Arc. But it’s something I want to follow and understand.
What I’ll be watching at launch
The first applications, the actual fees, and how easy it is to move funds. Then I’ll look at whether activity continues once the initial excitement fades.
Because a launch brings people in. Giving them a reason to stay takes more.
For now, Arc is on my watchlist. Its connection to Circle and its focus on USDC have caught my attention. Now I’m waiting to see the network in action.
What about you? Will you try Arc at launch, or wait for the first feedback?
