[NEWS] Microsoft planning to mine crypto using your brain waves ?!

The idea might seems to be impractical and audacious but Microsoft really believes it could be possible in the future. Thanks to its subsidiary MTL (Microsoft Technology Licensing), they filed the patent concerning a mining system that uses the activity of the human body as proof of work in the creation of crypto coins. Let me explain briefly this crazy idea.

It has been 9 months since the first time Microsoft talked about this project, and finally on March 26 the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) the patent was granted, it has been named "the Cryptocurrency system using body activity data”. MTL describes how the central server of a crypto system could propose tasks using sensors to measure user body activity. The authors of this project claim that the system connects the devices of users equipped with body sensors. These sensors would then transmit data on your "body activity", including brain waves, blood flow to arteries and veins, and any forms of motion.

All of this data will then be transmitted to a server and will be used as a proof of work, this will prevent what is commonly called "mass computing work" required by conventional crypto mining efforts. These sensors will also be extremely sophisticated and would detect the gamma and beta waves that humans use to learn, use memory functions and engage in logical thinking, and also the alpha waves that scientists think are being used by our subconscious.

Blockchain System

The project involves using brain waves and body heat cleared by the user when the user performs any tasks, and some people working on the project gave the example of how when you watch an advertisement or use a certain Internet service it can be used in the mining process. Some documents illustrates how coded body activity can be converted into crypto coins output using an encrypted algorithm, which results in the assignment of a crypto-active to the user in question.

The current patent documents don't mention whether Microsoft would seek to use an existing blockchain network or whether the software giant would seek to develop its own platform. For me only time will tell if Microsoft's project will ever become a real thing one day or not but the idea has potential and is interesting therefore this is why I wanted to share it with you.
