Market Sentiment Analysis ...

The first condition to be a good investor; It's good analysis. Especially in the cryptocurrency markets, analyzing the market closely and following the market situation will separate you from the others and make a good profit. I would like to talk about Market Sentiment Analysis, which complements fundamental and technical analysis.

If you're ready, let's start …

Sentiment, which stands for market sentiment, expresses the common opinion of traders and investors regarding an asset in the market. Many effects must be evaluated together in order to create market sentiment, which is often a guide for investors. At this point, current news and price history are especially effective.

Market sentiment is one of the things traders who like to run outliers look for. Most people want to sell their assets during a bull market, but if sentiment is low, they may also consider buying an asset to hold for a long time.

Due to the sudden price fluctuations experienced in the cryptocurrency markets, traders rely on market sentiment when analyzing the market. Traders who need to analyze sudden fluctuations well in order to achieve a high return on investment need to act fast. At this point, taking advantage of market sensitivity is very advantageous for investors.

How Is The Situation Of The Cryptocurrency Market … ?

It is necessary to gather opinions, thoughts and ideas to know the general mood of the market. However, relying on market sentiment alone will not be enough. Before making a decision about your investments, it is healthier to collect all the data and evaluate them together.

To perceive the fundamental state of the market, it is necessary to look at the relevant social media platforms to find out how the overall market and traders are looking at a particular digital asset. To interact directly with ecosystem participants, it is necessary to join Telegram, Reddit, Discord, Twitter groups. However, one should be careful against fraudsters who act as a project team on these platforms. Be sure to do extensive research and seek opinions from different sources before jumping to any conclusions.

Analyzing social media networks for generating market sentiment is just the tip of the iceberg. Apart from social media, you can also try the following methods:

  • Look for mentions on this topic on social media using data collection tools. Keep yourself updated with the latest news in the industry via popular cryptocurrency media outlets and blogs.
  • You should monitor whale activity in the cryptocurrency market. You should use tools like Whale Alert to monitor what major cryptocurrency holders are doing in the market.
  • You should use market sentiment indicators to find out the general sentiment of the community and investors. Indices such as the fear and greed index provide a variety of sources and summarize the current Market Sentiment.

Measure the amount of hype surrounding a crypto project using Google trends. For example; Thanks to the search phrase "buying ethereum", you can observe whether people's interest is increasing.
Cryptocurrency traders can use a variety of Market Sentiment Indicators to find a bullish or bearish sentiment for the market or a particular cryptocurrency. Indicators show market sentiment graphically or using some type of scale. It is recommended to use different indicators to get a clearer view of the market.

fear

Most sentiment indicators in the market are centered around Bitcoin and Ethereum. The most important reason for this is that Bitcoin owns 50% of the market. The bull market starts with Bitcoin, continues with Ethereum and ends with altcoins. Therefore, following Bitcoin ensures correct decision making. The most common indicator is the Fear and Greed index. The index attempts to gauge the strength of the common sentiment and general sentiment of the cryptocurrency market by utilizing different sources and calculating them in a single digit from 0-100. A value of 0 indicates that market participants have reached the point of extreme fear, while a value of 100 indicates that the market has reached the point of extreme greed. Players can become greedy when the price quickly rises to higher highs. It creates FOMO for bystanders and drives additional capital into the market. On the other hand, it may be more tempting for crypto investors to sell their holdings when the price drops sharply. The Fear and Greed index tries to measure extremes in both directions.

Other Market Sentiment Indicators;

High-Low Index; It compares the number of cryptocurrencies that made a 52-week high to the number of cryptocurrencies that made a 52-week low. When the index dips below 30, cryptocurrency prices are trading close to their lows and investors have a bearish bias. When the index is above 70, cryptocurrency prices are trading towards their highest levels and investors have a bullish market feeling.

Bull Percentage Index (BPI); It measures the number of coins with a bullish pattern based on dot and shape charts. Neutral markets have a bullish percentage of around 50%. When the BPI hits 80% or higher, market sentiment is overly optimistic and cryptocurrencies are likely to be overbought. Similarly, when it measures 20% or below, market sentiment is negative, indicating an oversold market.

gold

Moving Averages; Traders often use the 50-day simple moving average (SMA) and the 200-day SMA when determining the sentiment of a market. When the 50-day SMA breaks above the 200-day SMA, called the "golden cross", it indicates that the momentum is shifting upwards, creating a bullish sentiment. Conversely, when the 50-day SMA dips below the 200-day SMA – the so-called “death cross”, it suggests lower prices and creates a bearish sentiment.

What are the Benefits of Market Sentiment Analysis … ?

Before investing in cryptocurrency, it is always important to evaluate all available information. Similar to technical and fundamental analysis, it is equally important to learn about general market sentiment. For example, market analysis helps determine whether FOMO is justified or just instincts. The benefits of combining fundamental and technical analysis with market sentiment analysis are;

  • Having more precise predictions about short-term or medium-term price movements.
  • Having control over emotions when trading.
  • Identifying potentially profitable price trends.

My Last Words; Market Sentiment Analysis is complementary to fundamental and technical analysis. Today, many traders; It analyzes the information obtained from social media platforms and uses this data to make final trading decisions. As I always say, listen to everyone, decide for yourself ...
