Faucets! Faucets! Faucet!

By Batha | Journey Into Crytpo | 15 Nov 2020

It had now been almost weeks while i continued to claim from each faucet during my Journey Into Crypto. Stacking up as much as i could, i had a timer go off every 15 minutes or so, a sort of reminder, to claim these free virtual jewels. With every claim i get more coins and my smiles grew bigger and bigger, i could taste the riches, thoughts of a crypto newb kicked in as normal.

From 15 satoshis on day one i had amassed a couple of hundreds. As my fellow college mates bashed their heads thinking of the next assignment due, i was more concerned on when the next claim was due. I was only after that Bitcoin on day on but at this stage all coins in coinpot were fair game. I had five browser tabs opened and claiming from each one, raging at the annoying recaptcha "click all fire hydrants" "select all buses" it never ends... was i ever human enough to prove to my computer or was i actually an android dressed in flesh. Those Recaptchas continue to haunt me to this very day as I'm sure you felt so too.

I claimed and I claimed, it had seemed nearly impossible to keep going on. As days went by my excitement slowly started to fade away while i got closer to those minimum withdrawals. But that wouldn't stop me, i was nearly at the finish line.

At this time i started researching wallets, which to use, which was safer..... how do i use the wallet...

I had downloaded Exodus wallet, it seemed easy to use, an elegant look, friendly UI. That's all a beginner needs to start up anyway. I ran it on my phone and deleted it almost immediately. There was no sign in page, no "Enter Email", no "Enter Password", no "Forgot Password"... Coming from a background of only using banking apps i expected a sign in page at least on Exodus but it wasn't there.. so i chucked that away and continued my search.

I soon found out more crypto lingo Private keys and Seed phrases were all you need to get your wallet back in case you loose it or sync to a new device. I downloaded Exodus again after being reassured with a little more confidence i was ready for my first deposit!!

I went back to coinpot, converted all Bitcoin Cash, Litecoins, Dash coin and Doge coin into Bitcoin core and i was now ready to withdraw. Pasted my address from exodus, and in no time i would own my very own one ten thousandth of a bitcoin i.e 0.0001 less than a dollar at that time and almost $2 today.
