The Bitcoin Dream

By johnwege | johnwege | 27 Jun 2024

Bitcoin has the potential to not only change our lives financially but also to change the world. What each person wants out of Bitcoin is different and that is what makes it great. It isn’t only one thing or scenario, but many. The end result is our own personal Bitcoin dream.

There is no right answer to what your Bitcoin dream should be. Some people are in it just to make a few dollars to pay off some bills. Others have much bigger aspirations in mind. Perhaps they want to HODL long enough that Bitcoin will appreciate allowing them to retire. Maybe some people will go deep enough down the rabbit hole that they will want to join the Bitcoin industry to help propel the market further. And then there are those who want to see a Bitcoin world. A place where Bitcoin is the world reserve currency and is used everywhere. You might have even seen the Matrix meme that explains it.

The interesting thing about the Bitcoin dream is that it is always evolving. In fact, you have likely gone through all of the stages already. First entering to make a little money. Then beginning to understand Bitcoin well enough to know its long-term potential and decide to HODL. Then finally completely going down the Bitcoin rabbit hole and deciding that you’ll only sell if it's absolutely life-changing, or not at all.

While Bitcoin maxis will share their strong opinions that you should never sell your Bitcoin. That it would be like trading prime real estate in Times Square for pennies. But the truth is that if you can change your life by selling, you should consider it. Nothing is guaranteed in crypto, and life is short. If you can improve your life and make it less stressful, there would be no shame in selling your Bitcoin. That is a Bitcoin dream that we could all be proud of.

However, this is my own Bitcoin dream. I have gone through all of the stages. Beginning by just dipping my toes in the water hoping to make a little money to fix the horrible financial situation I had created. Then with the financial skills that Bitcoin taught me, I was able to fix those problems and shift to a HODL mindset. I was completely orange-pilled at this point. And now I find myself in the last group where I can’t even imagine selling my Bitcoin. It’s arguable that I have become too attached to the asset. But, I would only ever consider selling if it would allow me to achieve my dreams.

The end goal results that I’m hoping for is to someday be able to retire young and continue to pursue my interests. Splitting the year by living on a beautiful tropical island, and also living at my other home-bass with plenty of travel mixed in. This is my personal Bitcoin dream, but yours may differ.

As I mentioned before, the great thing about Bitcoin is that can be different things, for different people.
