How I'm Preparing for the Next $10,000 Crypto Airdrop

The cryptocurrency market is truly a magical place where large sums of money can be made by simply being active, devoting your time, and using minimal amounts of crypto. Receiving crypto airdrops can not only transform your portfolio but can be life-changing.

If you aren’t aware, cryptocurrency airdrops are when you are given free crypto usually for performing certain tasks. In the past, some of the most common criteria have been using a new projects’ testnet, interacting and using certain dapps, connecting your wallet to DEXs, bridging to certain chains and performing swaps, holding certain crypto in your wallet, being active on discord or social channels, and the list goes on.

The fact is that these airdrops are never guaranteed, and many of the projects will deny their existence until the day that they actually announce it. What this all means is that the risk you are taking by trying to airdrop hunt is that they might not ever happen. You could be wasting your time, energy, and money. But, the few times that it does work out makes it completely worth it.

For example, let’s take a look at the recent Arbitrum airdrop. For multiple years the Arbitrum team vehemently denied the existence of not only an airdrop but a token as well. Until it was finally announced a few weeks ago. The people who were active on their network and qualified for the ARB airdrop were greatly rewarded. The average reward received was thousands of dollars, but there were several who received tens of thousands and more. All for devoting a few minutes and ETH toward testing out the ARB network.

I was lucky enough to receive the ARB airdrop, but admittedly I already have my sights set on two possible future airdrop opportunities.

Sui

The first is Sui, a layer 1 blockchain that is being developed by ex-facebook Libra developers. It runs using Move similar to Aptos, but the hype around Sui is much higher and is considered to be the more respected project. Speaking of Aptos, last year users who had tested out the Aptos testnet also received an airdrop, and that is one of the reasons why so many people are anticipating a possible Sui airdrop in the future.

Through the last several months the Sui developers have released new testnet versions now leading up to the final testnet. No one knows if there will actually be an airdrop, or what we would need to do in order to be eligible. With that in mind, we have been trying to do anything possible in order to qualify.

Over the last several months I have made several Sui wallets, constantly claiming tokens from the free Sui faucet and staking them. I have also been minting NFTs, connecting with apps, bridging, using name services and the list goes on. I’m hopeful that the Sui airdrop will be announced when the main chain goes live.

zkSync

The rumors swirling around the Arbitrum airdrop the last two years were almost legendary. After the airdrop was finally announced, the attention of airdrop hunters in the Ethereum ecosystem immediately turned toward zkSync.

Short for zero-knowledge (zk), zkSync is a network that offloads Ethereum’s network traffic and relieves the mainnet of congestion and high transfer fees. Because zkSync’s existence is so tied to Ethereum, it is often called a Layer 2 scalability solution, whereas Ethereum itself is a Layer 1 network. Many believe that the technology behind zkSync will help Ethereum go to the next level.

Just a few weeks ago the main net for zksync finally went live and airdrop hunters have been scrambling trying to decipher what will be needed to qualify for the possible airdrop. No one knows for sure, which once again makes this a guessing game.

Personally, I have created several zkSync wallets on Metamask and bridging Ethereum on the ETH network to zksync. After bridging I have been making swaps on several DEXs such as Mute, SpaceSwap, and SyncSwap and also adding liquidity. Repeating this process with several dapps, and wallets. The game for qualifying for airdrops is constantly changing, but there were two key things that we learned from the recent ARB criteria. Being an early user and performing several transactions for an extended period of time were greatly valued. And so that is the strategy I am using toward zkSync.

As I mentioned before, there is no guarantee that these two airdrops will even become real in the future. However, assuming they are real and you were an active participant in their ecosystems. It could result in you receiving an airdrop valued at several thousands of dollars. Life changing for most people. Something that is definitely worth devoting a handful of minutes to each week.

How about you? What are you doing to qualify for future airdrops?
