For any male of a certain age (old guys, like me), Adrienne Barbeau was a dream come true every week on TV. She was an extremely talented actress, singer and dancer, and to borrow a phrase, not too tough to look at. I remember watching episodes of Maude back in the day, and being too young to understand the humor, but being old enough to recognize the effect that the gorgeous Ms. Barbeau had on my adolescent development.
As a guest of honor at the Motor City Nightmares horror convention, I made it a priority to meet this lovely woman in person, and so I spent many nights laboring over a portrait of Ms. Barbeau. I chose her character, Stevie Wayne from the film The Fog, as my subject. A lesser known character, but one of my favorites.
At the show, there was little or no waiting, and meeting Adrienne was a wonderful experience. She's much smaller in person than she appears on screen, and this just accentuates how impressive her famous figure is in real life. A very sweet person, we spent quite a while chatting, and she was a bit overwhelmed by the gifts I'd left for her.
In the photo below, she's holding a painting that was sent from Mexico by my friend, Gonzalo. My portrait of Stevie Wayne is on the table, to her right.

She was warm and gracious with her time, and even pretended not to notice when I was sneaking peeks at her sweater. A legendary actress and a wonderful person who lived up to every expectation, and then some.
